Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Technician with tower climbing credentials to join our team in Plano, Texas. This role is critical in ensuring the successful installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wireless network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, microwave installation experience, and knowledge of networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee microwave installation and alignment by subcontractors while ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry standards.

• Perform Bill of Material (BOM) validation, hardware inventory, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of network equipment including radios, antennas, routers, switches, and wireless devices.

• Conduct site surveys and prepare detailed reports for network deployments and upgrades.

• Install, terminate, and test coaxial and fiber optic cables according to project specifications.

• Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution, escalating complex issues as needed.

• Perform network testing and analysis, producing reports and recommendations for improvement in lab and field environments.

• Develop Installation Method of Procedures (MOPs) to support field installation activities.

• Evaluate and oversee construction subcontractors and perform installation quality inspections at height as required.

• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and changes.

• Review customer deliverables and close-out packages for quality assurance.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols while working on towers and elevated structures.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and field personnel as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• 2–5+ years of experience in telecom site surveys, microwave installation, alignment, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Strong understanding of networking protocols (Layer 1 & Layer 2), routing, and IP addressing.

• Existing or prior Competent Climber/Rescuer certification.

• OSHA-10 certification required; OSHA-30 preferred.

• Ability to travel a minimum of 25%.

Skills & Certifications

• CCNA or equivalent technical certification preferred.

• Tower climbing and rigging experience.

• Layer 3 and IP certifications are a plus.

• Ceragon or other microwave product installation experience required; Siklu experience preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of network design and implementation.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including customer interaction.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Commitment to continuous learning and industry development.

• Familiarity with SNMP, network monitoring tools, and iPERF for network optimization.
