Operations BI Engineer

We power the world with endless clean energy, one home at a time. We design and build solar and battery systems that capture the sun during the day and use it whenever it's needed, brilliantly designed to be simple to install, intuitive to use, and beautiful inside and out.

We're scaling fast: ramping production, shipping a Gen 2 product line, and expanding our supply base across a growing network of manufacturing partners. That growth generates a wealth of operational data across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and fulfillment, and shaping how that data gets used is still wide open. You'll have the room to build the tools and dashboards that define how Lunar runs.

Lunar Energy was founded to transition homes to 100% clean energy—making our electricity greener, our air cleaner and our energy more safe, secure and reliable for all. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.

The role

This role owns BI dashboarding, internal tool building, and workflow automation for manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and fulfillment teams. You'll work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and engineering, translating loosely defined stakeholder needs and unstructured data into scoped dashboards, automations, and internal tools.

What you'll do

  • Dashboard and reporting development – build and maintain BI dashboards and KPI reporting for manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and fulfillment teams, tied to recurring decisions rather than passive reporting. Track KPIs like OEE, yield, downtime, cycle time, throughput, shortages, and fulfillment performance.
  • Internal tool building and workflow automation – build internal tools, scripts, and workflow automations that replace manual status reporting, KPI refreshes, and exception tracking, using scripting and workflow logic to solve business problems without large-scale software engineering support.
  • API and business systems integration – connect Jira, Confluence, Google Sheets/Drive, and other business tools to move data and trigger workflows, and integrate data from ERP, MES, PLM, and other operational systems into unified reporting outputs.

What you'll bring

  • BS in a quantitative, technical, or operations-related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Supply Chain), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience building BI dashboards, internal tools, or workflow automation, ideally supporting manufacturing, supply chain, or operations teams.
  • Strong SQL for extracting, joining, validating, and cleaning data from fragmented operational sources, specifically with Postgres databases.
  • Proficient with APIs (Slack, Atlassian, Google) to connect business systems for reporting and workflow automation
  • Grafana experience is required, including building and maintaining dashboards for operational KPIs.
  • At least one scripting language for internal tools and automations, Python preferred.

Nice to have

  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience, since Grafana is deployed this way.
  • Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar agentic coding tools.
  • Experience with Arena PLM, SiliconExpert, or ERP/MES/WMS systems.
  • Comfortable turning ambiguous stakeholder requests into scoped dashboards, automations, and internal tools.
