The Opportunity for Impact

The GM/SVP of the Marketplace Business will report to Tore Steen, CEO and Co-Founder, and serve as an integral member of the executive management team. As GM of the company’s largest and most revenue-generative business unit, this individual will drive the go-forward strategy for continued exponential growth and expansion, direct and through channels, both in terms of sponsors (Capital Markets) and individual investors (Investor Relations).  Beyond expanding the business and driving increased revenue, the individual will oversee all aspects of the Marketplace, including Marketplace Operations, Customer Success, and Portfolio Investment Performance.

  • Lead all:
    • Sponsor acquisition, success, and expansion 
    • Individual investor acquisition, success and expansion
    • Marketplace production and operations 
    • Portfolio performance monitoring and related investment management 
    • Partnership development, origination, and maintenance 
  • Continue to develop trust in CrowdStreet’s marketplace model and platform, increasing investor demand and becoming the #1 trusted source of investment in CRE
  • Scale the institutional quality of sponsors while growing registered investor membership appropriately to match deal flow
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the Marketplace investment portfolio and production operations
  • Collaborate closely with the other business units - Investment & Wealth Solutions (IWS) & any future business units - and current functions - CPO, CMO, CTO, GC, CHRO, CFO - to develop and formalize growth strategy and operations for the next 5 years
  • Analyze, strategize, and grow Crowdstreet’s competitive position
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the executive management team and Board of Directors to enable investments for CrowdStreet growth. Establish and develop exceptional working relationships with executive management, Board of Director members, external partners and stakeholders.
  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning leveraging OKR methodology.

What You Do

Ideally coming from a CRE advisory, investment management  or alternative asset management firm, the GM of Marketplace will bring a diverse set of hands-on institutional/enterprise sales and capital markets experiences, always with a keen eye to customer engagement and success on both sides of the marketplace. 

  • 10+ years GM or Revenue leadership experience in a similar Real Estate / fintech platform or alternative investment firm
  • Extensive CRE / alternative asset sales experience preferred - ideally consumer related
  • Exceptional business, budget and people management skills; you have a strong interest and exceptional ability to manage others and ability to attract and inspire top talent.
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility across the organization and engage others to ensure the most effective and efficient business solutions.
  • Strong strategic and analytical background to scale the business.
  • Experience scaling a business rapidly - ideally 2x per year 
  • Strong leader with steadfast resolve and personal integrity; well-versed at building teams and doing world-class work in a collaborative, team-oriented manner.
  • Articulate and engaging communicator for the business internally, as well as dynamic messenger for the business, externally; ability to distill complex concepts into simple explanations is important.
  • Investor relations and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with the executive team and investors.

We operate in a hybrid work model. You can work from home in any of the 27 states where we currently have team members. You can work from our HQ in Austin, TX. Through our partnership with Industrious, we also provide access to CrowdStreet-paid, local co-working spaces.
