Mobile MDS Director, Full-Time, Extensive travel (approximately 90%)

What You Will Do
POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the Clinical Leadership Support team and they support communities during times where there is a need for an interim Director of Nursing, Nurse Leadership or MDS position due to an open position or extended leave of an associate. This is a traveling position and may serve any AL Skilled Nursing community in the ministry. This position provides temporary clinical leadership support as needed in ASL communities. While in the community, they manage, coordinate, directs and maintains an efficient productive and organized clinical structure. The position has administrative authority over and responsibility for function of the clinical services / nursing department at the ministry. While serving at the ministry, the Clinical Operations Specialist functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the supervision of nursing care provided to those we serve.
• Manages and monitors the nursing department's activities by effectively communicating policies, expected outcomes, efficient work routines, and work procedures to the nursing staff.
• Develops and maintains clinical budgets within community guidelines.
• Responsible for ensuring quality care standards at the community.
• Collaboratively with the community CEO or Administrator participates in the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement process at the community.
• Ensures compliance with all AL policies, procedures and clinical systems.
• Ensures AL clinical systems are implemented and followed at the community.
• Monitors admissions, discharges and transfers to assure appropriate care and compliance with State and/or Federal regulations.
• Assumes administrative authority for the community in absence of the CEO/Administrator.
• Monitors quality metrics in the community, assesses changes, and implements improvement plans as needed.
• Support the community to prepare for regulatory surveys and ensure a positive survey outcome.
• Have a thorough understanding of all regulations and standards related to the RAI process (Federal/State regulations and MDS RAI User Manual).
• Work in collaboration with the IDT to ensure accurate and timely completion of all Medicare documents in order to maintain regulatory compliance within the community. To include but not limited to: Physician certification/ recertification, NOMNC, SNF ABNs, ABNs, and Letter of medical predictability.
• Work in collaboration with the facility Director of Rehab to ensure the most appropriate assessment reference date (ARD) and assessment type/combination are utilized for Medicare/Managed Care PPS Assessments.
• Demonstrate an understanding and assists in the preparation of clinical, quality and reimbursement reports.
• Participation in the pre-admission process to ensure essential information needed for MDS/Case Mix coding is obtained from the referral source(s) and meets Medicare eligibility requirements when applicable.
• Participate in month end Triple Check, daily PPS meeting and other meetings per ASL policy.
• Participate in the community orientation, in services and ongoing education.
• Completion of the RAI process and management of the MDS department.
• Functions as an RAI and Clinical Reimbursement resource to the community staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of pertinent client and employee information to assure their privacy is protected.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the Clinical Operations team.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directly supervises or over sees the supervision of clinical staff and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and community policy and procedures.
• Ensures clinical team has adequate resources and supplies to provide quality care
• Monitors staffing and correlates to census and resident acuity to ensure appropriate staff to provide care for residents.
• Works with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, orient and maintain a competent clinical team at the community.
• Coaches, develops and provides input into evaluations of a dedicated, high performing clinical team.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance with resident and associate information.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Preferred Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider.
  • Registered Nurse.


Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.


Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • 2 years of leadership or management experience required.
  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.


Additional Preferences
Highly Preferred:

  • Ability to travel full-time (approx. 90%) and lives near a major airport
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Master's degree
  • RAC-CT or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain recertification as required
  • Previous MDS and/or Skilled Nursing Leadership experience
  • Experience with current and emerging delivery systems
