PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $171,700.00-$209,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $133,100.00 - $248,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As the Organizational Design Director, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how BECU works today and evolves for the future. Your expertise will help create organizational structures that empower teams, clarify accountability, and enable exceptional performance across the organization. By partnering with business leaders and People Business Partners, you'll influence strategic decisions that strengthen collaboration, improve efficiency, and support our mission of serving our members.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to transform ideas into organizational solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes. Your insights, leadership, and ability to connect people strategy with business strategy will help ensure BECU is positioned to adapt, grow, and thrive. Every recommendation you make will contribute to building a workplace where teams are aligned, empowered, and equipped to make a lasting impact.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Shape Organizational Strategy: Partner with business and functional leaders to make strategic decisions regarding organizational structures and company hierarchy. Identify opportunities to improve accountability, eliminate duplication of work, and enhance organizational effectiveness through thoughtful design recommendations.

  • Design Future-State Organizations: Develop and document future-state organizational design options, including team structures, role definitions, decision ownership, and matrixed accountability models when appropriate. Present recommendations to senior leaders, clearly communicating trade-offs, risks, and expected business outcomes.

  • Improve Organizational Effectiveness: Review and analyze work processes, workloads, workflows, and functional relationships to identify opportunities that improve efficiency, productivity, and collaboration across teams.

  • Lead Organizational Transformation: Guide organizational design initiatives during periods of change, supporting business units through reorganizations, growth, evolving priorities, and operating model changes.

  • Leverage Data to Drive Decisions: Analyze and interpret organizational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Translate insights into practical, actionable recommendations that support informed decision-making.

  • Advise and Influence Leaders: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders by providing clear guidance on organizational design options, implementation considerations, and the potential impact of organizational decisions.

  • Partner Across People Functions: Collaborate closely with People Business Partners to align business priorities, talent strategies, and organizational objectives. Co-create integrated solutions that address both organizational structure and people considerations.

  • Support Business Needs: Perform other duties as assigned while contributing to the continued success and evolution of BECU.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or related field or equivalent work and/or education related experience.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in organizational design, HR, workforce planning, or related work.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of organizational design principles, operating models, and workforce structures, with the ability to apply them across diverse functions and business units. Understanding of the credit union or broader financial services industry.

  • Working knowledge of org design and/or workforce planning tools (e.g OrgVue or similar) to model and evaluate design scenarios.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing matrixed organizational structures, including clarifying decision rights, accountability, governance, and cross-functional ways of working.

  • Experience supporting organizational change efforts (e.g., reorganizations, growth, operating model shifts).

  • Experience evaluating and designing organizational operating models to improve scalability, efficiency, member experience, and business performance.

  • Experience partnering with senior leaders on complex business or people-related challenges.

  • Experience working in or closely with HR Business Partner teams.

  • Ability to connect organizational design decisions to business goals and priorities.

  • Understanding of how team structures, roles, and reporting relationships impact business performance.

  • Ability to analyze organizational data and identify patterns, risks, and opportunities.

  • Skilled at translating data into clear, practical recommendations.

  • Proficient with standard business software tools: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
