The Paralegal will assist with management of an active legal practice. Primarily focusing on contracts and interaction with internal and external clients. The Paralegal will organize various legal documents and preform clerical and administrative services to meet the needs of clients and contracted law firms. The Paralegal will assist in managing the flow of cases, documents, meetings, and information from initial filing to settlement. A successful Paralegal will exude strong organizational, communication, research, and analytical skills, and will be team minded with strong attention to detail.
This is a fully remote role with very little to no travel.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan Legal Service’s Key Results:

  • Contribute to and promote a positive work environment and team experience.
  • May be required to interface directly with government vendors, and internal clients.
  • Assist in managing an active litigation docket of district courts.
  • Assist third party attorneys in daily litigation including scheduling mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Act as a liaison between the firm’s clients and third party attorneys to provide status updates on properties and to obtain documentation needed for discovery.

Client:

  • Provide support to third party attorneys, involving such activities as organizing and maintaining files; and preparing communications and filings.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with team members, clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel regarding a wide range of administrative and litigation matters.
  • Provide a positive, supportive, team-oriented work environment including various miscellaneous functions, such as open and distribute mail, screen calls, schedule appointments, and arrange meetings and conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with others to enhance staff resources.

  • Complete special projects as and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA approved Paralegal certificate (preferred) with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Paralegal in a corporate setting or law firm.

  • Self-motivated, drives matters/projects to closure.
  • Able to drive through-put to keep up with high volume and high velocity of work.
  • Experienced at prioritizing and following up so that outstanding items are completed.
  • Able to focus on consistency in delivering on projects and working with others.
  • Proven ability to take initiative to proactively provide support and offer assistance.
  • Proven ability to take initiative to identify issues and solutions and make recommendations. 
  • Adept at seeking insights/clarification for project completion for all Department projects.
  • Agile mindset, responds quickly and positively to shifting priorities, requests, and demands

  • Team-oriented, open to input from others, building relationships across organization.
Computer Skills:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Zoom and Internet navigation/research. In addition, this position requires advanced experience with Workday.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role has no direct reports.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment
  • Remote

  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Position requires regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement: less than 10%.

The Company makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience.

Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation.

The base salary hiring range is about $80,0000 to $100,000 depending on experience.
