Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results.

A Little About Us

At Yahoo, millions of people use our services every day, which naturally makes us a target for a wide range of adversaries. We're the Paranoids, Yahoo's dedicated information security team. Our mission is clear: keep our employees and consumers safe online. Our Cyber Experience group is focused on making security seamless and intuitive for every Yahoo employee.

We achieve this by:

  • Evangelizing the value of security best practices.

  • Productizing Paranoids' services to be simple and easy to adopt.

  • Driving the adoption of safe behaviors, making the safe choice the easiest—and ultimately, the only—choice.

About the Role

You'll build the AI-native products that change how Yahoo employees experience security. This is a hands-on building role on a small security experience team. You'll ship employee-facing AI products: agents, skills, and tools that make the security work people find tedious fast, clear, and obvious. You'll also scale the AI tooling our team runs on, as well as the skills, plugins, and shared systems that let a small team ship like a large one.

You'll serve as the Paranoids’ developer advocate. Some of what makes security hard for engineers is built and owned by other teams. When they own the solution, you speak to the developer experience and push for choices that make it easier to meet security requirements. You build where you own the work and influence where you don't.

We're early. The team has already prototyped an AI-native way of working, and this role exists to turn those prototypes into durable products and help define what an AI-native function looks like inside a security org. You'll have real room to shape the work.

A Lot About You

  • You ship -  You'd rather have a rough working thing in front of a user this week than a polished plan next month. You close the loop.

  • You're a strong engineer who works well with people - You move across product, comms, and planning, and you can talk to engineers and the people who aren't.

  • You make the case for the user - When another team owns the build, you represent the developer's experience and push for it with evidence, not just opinion.

  • You're comfortable in ambiguity -  You take a fuzzy problem and a fast-moving toolset and find a path without waiting to be handed a spec.

  • You build for people who don't care about security - You design for an audience that has another job to do, which means reducing friction and making value obvious, not adding process.

What you’ll do day-to-day

  • Build employee-facing products using AI.

    • Design, build, and ship agents, skills, and tools that help Yahoo employees navigate security without friction. Take a concept to a working prototype fast, then iterate with real users.

  • Advocate for the developer experience

    • Partner with the Paranoids engineers who own security solutions. Represent the developer user group in those conversations and push for designs that make requirements easier to meet, not just easier to ship.

  • Own our AI tooling infrastructure.

    • Maintain and grow the team's AI tooling infrastructure, including skills, plugins, and internal agent marketplaces, while evaluating and refining AI-generated outputs for reliability and accuracy.

  • Work closely with the user.

    • Build for our audience segments, from general employees to developers to call center agents. Watch how people actually use what you ship and let that drive the next version.

  • Document so others can build

    • Write clear docs, skill standards, and guides so your work is usable and extendable by the rest of the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs and agentic AI tools, including prompt engineering, agent orchestration, and authoring reusable skills/agents.

  • Proficient in a programming language like Python or TypeScript.

  • Experience integrating APIs and Model Context Protocols (MCPs) to connect distributed systems and automate operational tasks.

  • Proven track record of evaluating, validating, and refining AI-generated outputs for accuracy, safety, and security.

  • Comfortable building lightweight UIs (HTML/CSS, JavaScript) for the products you ship.

  • Familiarity with MySQL for database querying and management.

  • Comfortable partnering with engineering teams you don't sit on, and making a clear, evidence-based case for the user.

  • Comfortable with Git and GitHub as the source of truth for code and content.

  • Clear technical writing, the kind that lets someone else use or extend what you built.

  • Comfortable in modern collaboration tools (Linear, Jira, Google Workspace). Prior Linear use is a plus, not a requirement.

  • Exposure to or curiosity about security work.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
