Responsibilites

  • Oversee the peer-review process of manuscripts, ensuring a timely and high-quality peer-review process and a smooth manuscript journey.

  • Screen lists of recommended reviewers in the Academia.edu database and look for suitable candidates outside the platform to ensure qualified reviewers are invited

  • Check the collected peer review reports and lead manuscripts through subsequent editorial decisions and author revisions. 

  • Collaborate closely with authors to ensure all relevant information is collected in a timely manner and manuscripts are revised to reviewers' and editors' satisfaction.

  • Collaborate closely with the Publishing Managers of the assigned journals to prevent any delays and issues that could impact reputation or adherence to ethical norms.

  • Collaborate with the production service provider to ensure manuscripts are prepared according to internal guidelines and industry standards, and published without delays following the final acceptance.

  • Work independently and against short deadlines so the published papers meet the high standards of presentation expected by authors, editors, and indexing databases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural or technical science field and sufficient proven experience processing papers for journals within natural or technical sciences fields. Master’s degree preferred but not required.

  • 1.5 years experience overseeing the day-to-day peer-review activities for a scientific journal in a similar role within an academic publishing company or within the publishing department of a scientific society/association. 

  • Experience working independently and demonstrating initiative.

  • Experience efficiently managing publication logistics for a large volume of manuscripts.

  • Familiarity with HTML, PDF, LaTex and XML formats

  • Strong skills using MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Ability to adapt to change and to prioritize multiple responsibilities with a sense for business impact.
