Community Impact · We're Hiring · Pflugerville, TX

People Operations Specialist

Community Impact is excited to add a People Operations Specialist to our HR team! We're a small but mighty crew, and this role is half of a two-person department, so what you own here truly matters. You'll run payroll, manage our HRIS in Paylocity, coordinate full-cycle recruiting, and be the go-to person for employee questions day to day, all while working closely with the Director of HR on the bigger picture. This role is built for someone who loves systems, process, and getting the details exactly right.

Two-person HR team — real ownership, not a lot of red tape
$45–55K hiring range based on experience

What You'd Do

Payroll & HRIS

  • Run bi-weekly payroll start to finish: data entry, corrections, and reporting.
  • Own our HRIS in Paylocity: configuration, workflows, and integrations. Maintain absolute accuracy on promotions, salary adjustments, terminations, and employee profile updates.
  • Process new hire, status change, and termination paperwork accurately and on time.

Recruiting, Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage the recruiting pipeline day to day: sourcing, initial screening, scheduling, interviewing, and offers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to keep open roles moving and candidates informed at every stage.
  • Own the administrative lifecycle of employees end to end: initiate background checks, manage system provisioning, coordinate first-week schedules, and handle offboarding logistics when someone leaves.

HR Operations, Compliance & Employee Support

  • Be the first point of contact for day-to-day employee questions on policy, pay, and benefits.
  • Support benefits administration: enrollment, changes, and vendor coordination.
  • Track leave and time-off requests and keep records current.
  • Assist the Director of HR with regular compliance audits, filing requirements including I-9 verification and EEO-1 reporting, and digital employee file maintenance.

Culture & Continuous Improvement

  • Model CI's values and Core 10 competencies in every interaction, not just the ones people are watching.
  • Look for ways to cut friction out of HR processes and put new tools, including AI, to work.
You'll Thrive Here If You
  • Know Paylocity, or a similar HRIS, inside and out, not just the basics
  • Keep processes and records accurate even when things get busy
  • Like owning the details of onboarding and offboarding from start to finish
  • Are comfortable handling compliance paperwork like I-9s and EEO-1 reporting
  • Like being hands-on. This is a two-person HR team, and this role is core to it
What We Value
  • Faith — Resilience, Mission Alignment
  • Passion — Drive / Hustle, Positive Attitude
  • Quality — High Standards, Follow-Through
  • Innovation — Adaptability, Creative Problem Solving
  • Integrity — Ownership, Doing the Right Thing
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Paylocity or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform. You should know your way around system configuration, workflows, and reporting, not just the basics.
  • 3-4 years in an HR coordinator, HR generalist, or HRIS/systems role.
  • Comfortable managing a busy, detail-heavy workload without letting things slip.
  • Working knowledge of basic employment law and HR compliance.
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheets and reporting tools, and general comfort learning new systems.
