About Solace

Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisions—and get better outcomes.

We're a Series C startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. Our U.S. based team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.

Solace isn't a place to coast. We're here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you're looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you're in the right place. We’re intense, and we like it that way.

About the Role

This is the person who owns the technology and systems layer that the entire People function runs on and who partners directly with our Total Rewards & Infrastructure Lead to build the compensation infrastructure the company needs to scale.

You'll own Workday from the inside out — not transactions, but architecture. You'll design how the system works, build the automations that eliminate manual work, and identify where AI can make the People function smarter and faster. Alongside that you'll be a key partner on compensation work — building the data infrastructure that powers how we pay, level, and retain people.

This is a high ownership role on a small team where what you build will be felt across the entire company.

What You'll Own

Workday Architecture & Configuration

  • Own the business process framework inside Workday — how approvals route, how tasks trigger, how workflows sequence across the employee lifecycle

  • Configure and maintain security roles so the right people have access to the right data

  • Build and maintain custom reports and calculated fields that feed compensation decisions, headcount tracking, and org management

  • Design and maintain integrations between Workday and our broader People tech stack — payroll, Pulley, and Ashby — so data flows automatically without manual reconciliation

  • Audit and continuously improve system configuration as the org grows and business needs change

  • Serve as the internal Workday expert — the person who knows what the system can do and pushes us to actually use it

AI & Automation

  • Identify manual, repetitive workflows across the People function and build automations that eliminate them

  • Evaluate and implement AI tools relevant to People Operations, compensation, and systems administration

  • Partner with the Total Rewards & Infrastructure Lead to build and execute a People AI roadmap

  • Stay close to what Workday is releasing natively on AI and automation and bring those capabilities in-house

Compensation Infrastructure Support

  • Build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers compensation decisions — salary bands, job architecture, and leveling frameworks

  • Support the annual compensation review cycle from a systems and data perspective

  • Maintain equity administration in Pulley and ensure clean data across grant history, vesting schedules, and terminated employee records

  • Partner with Total Rewards & Infrastructure Lead on compensation modeling and scenario analysis as we scale

What We're Looking For
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in an HRIS or People Systems role inside a high growth company

  • Deep hands on Workday experience — you have configured business processes, built security roles, designed integrations, and written calculated fields. Using it is not enough

  • Genuine excitement about AI and automation in the People space — you have a point of view on where this is going and you want to build it

  • Experience with equity administration platforms, Pulley experience a plus

  • Enough comfort with compensation data to be a real partner on comp architecture and modeling

  • Low ego, high output — you build what doesn't exist without needing a perfect brief

  • Startup mindset — you move fast, figure things out, and don't wait to be told

Why This Role

You're joining at the moment the foundation gets built. The People systems and compensation infrastructure decisions made in this role over the next 12 to 18 months will shape how Solace operates for years. You'll have direct access to leadership, real ownership over critical systems, and the opportunity to bring AI into a People function that is genuinely open to doing things differently. If you want to build something that matters, this is it.

Applicants must be based in the United States.

Up for the Challenge?

We look forward to meeting you.
