Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Evaluation: Review and assess incoming personal injury claims for investment potential, including liability, damages, medical records, and venue.
  • Portfolio Oversight: Monitor the status and performance of funded PI claims; liaise with external counsel to ensure timely case movement and strategic alignment.
  • Litigation Management: Analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, and settlement posture of active cases; flag legal risk and case progression concerns.
  • Due Diligence: Support underwriting efforts by reviewing legal documents, medical records, and insurance coverage; identify red flags and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Firm Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for law firms managing our funded cases; support case strategy development and resolution planning.
  • Reporting: Track key performance metrics for active claims and portfolios; deliver updates and insights to Legalist’s internal team.
  • Compliance: Ensure litigation activity is conducted in accordance with ethical standards, investment agreements, and applicable laws.
Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited top 20 law school
  • Active license and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 5+ years of personal injury litigation experience (plaintiff- or defense-side); trial experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of tort law, medical review, discovery, and litigation strategy
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with claim valuation and litigation finance is a plus
  • Self-starter with sound judgment and ability to work independently
