Meridio is a remote-first company on a mission to make health benefits for small businesses simple, affordable, and accessible. As we scale smart, we’re focused on building systems that reduce complexity instead of adding it.

In this role, you’ll own the platform and data foundation that everything else builds on. You’ll be responsible for data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and the DevOps workflows that keep our systems reliable — so product and design teams can stay focused on shipping customer-facing work.

We’re a small, scrappy team — which means not every problem is perfectly defined, priorities can evolve, and no two days look the same. We value good judgment, ownership, and people who are comfortable operating with context instead of rigid rules. If you enjoy figuring things out, making thoughtful tradeoffs, and building practical solutions in a fast-moving environment, you’ll fit well within our team.

You’ll be hands-on — writing code, improving infrastructure, and making pragmatic decisions about where systems need to be hardened and where “good enough” is enough.

You’ll report directly to our Chief Product Officer.

Location: This role is remote, but candidates must be located in the United States or Canada and legally authorized to work without sponsorship.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and evolve our data infrastructure, including pipelines into our data warehouse
  • Manage and improve cloud infrastructure and DevOps workflows
  • Ensure platform reliability so product and design teams aren’t pulled into backend or operational firefighting
  • Support internal applications that rely on trusted, accessible data
  • Partner closely with Product on roadmap planning, scoping, and technical tradeoffs
  • Identify and resolve platform bottlenecks before they slow the team down
  • Share progress, risks, and improvements early and clearly
What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
  • Data is trusted, accessible, and consistently available
  • Clear ownership of infrastructure and DevOps
  • Fewer platform-related interruptions for product and design
  • Smooth performance during peak usage periods
  • Faster delivery as engineering friction drops
About You
  • Comfortable working in a scrappy environment where priorities evolve and judgment matters
  • Think in systems, not just features
  • Prefer simple, resilient solutions over over-engineering
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous technical problems
  • Know when to build and when to buy
  • Explain technical decisions in plain language
  • Thrive in fast-paced, distributed teams
  • Care about making other teams more effective
What You Bring
  • 5–8+ years building and maintaining production systems
  • Strong experience with backend systems and data infrastructure
  • Comfort with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure welcome)
  • Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and infrastructure tooling
  • Experience supporting high-growth or early-stage products
  • Interest in building toward security and compliance best practices

Bonus points for

  • DevOps or SRE experience
  • Healthcare, fintech, or regulated industry background
  • Enjoyment of being a platform owner rather than a feature specialist
Compensation & Benefits
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental & Vision
  • 401k
  • Remote-first culture with bi-annual in-person offsites
  • Discretionary Time Off
Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • Ownership and trust — We give people context and expect good judgment, not micromanagement.
  • Impact you can see — Your work directly enables product, design, and operations to move faster with confidence.
  • A team that values leverage — We invest in systems so people don’t have to fight them.
  • Room to grow — As our platform matures, so will your ownership and scope.
  • Work from anywhere — Stay flexible while building meaningful systems.
