ABOUT REVRISE MEDIA
RevRise Media is a fast-growing, tech-enabled insurance marketing company based in San Diego. We help businesses and insurance brands accelerate their growth through innovative marketing strategies and data-driven technology solutions. We move fast, execute smart, and build systems that have real impact on business outcomes — and we’re just getting started.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Platform Engineer is responsible for observability, infrastructure quality, and system reliability across the RevRise platform. This is a contributing engineering role focused on enhancing existing features and services rather than net-new feature development. The primary objectives are metrics development, performance profiling, and instrumentation that gives the engineering organization clear visibility into how our systems behave under real-world conditions. This role serves as the primary reviewer for infrastructure-as-code changes and works alongside the development team to embed observability into the platform at every layer.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, and modern observability tooling. Equivalent experience is valued over credentials. We are looking for an engineer who is deliberate and methodical, someone who takes the time to understand risk and exposure before making changes and who recognizes that the highest-value reliability work is preventative by nature.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engineer and implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding strategies using Google Cloud Monitoring and adjacent ecosystems.
- Contribute directly to our TypeScript, SQL, and Python codebase to instrument existing applications and services for observability, including authoring and implementing RFCs in coordination with the development team.
- Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and alerting thresholds that surface actionable problems across our services.
- Profile and identify performance bottlenecks, resource inefficiencies, and capacity risks across the platform.
- Own and maintain our infrastructure-as-code standards, ensuring consistency, security, and reliability across our GCP environment.
- Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines as they relate to infrastructure deployment and validation.
- Develop and maintain runbooks and operational documentation for critical systems.
- Conduct post-incident analysis and translate findings into durable, measurable improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Technical Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure-focused roles.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Compute, Networking, IAM).
- Proficiency with Terraform.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or GCP's native monitoring tooling.
- Working proficiency in TypeScript, SQL, and Python.
Experience with BigQuery, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL administration, or cloud cost optimization is valued but not required.
What We Value
Methodical engineers who understand the impact of their changes before executing, communicating proactively, and take pride and ownership in the reliability of the systems they touch. The right candidate does not need to know everything today but is driven to learn and improve continuously.
