The Groove is a modern Workday consulting firm delivering transformative solutions across HCM and Financials. We partner with organizations to design and implement scalable, high-impact Workday solutions. As our Financials practice continues to grow, we are seeking a Principal Consultant with deep expertise in Workday Financial Reporting to lead complex client engagements and drive exceptional outcomes.

The Role

The Principal Consultant, Workday Financial Reporting is a client-facing implementation leader responsible for designing, building, and optimizing reporting solutions within Workday Financials. This role focuses exclusively on external client delivery, helping organizations unlock meaningful insights from their financial data.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of Workday Financials reporting tools and understands how to translate business requirements into scalable, accurate, and user-friendly reporting frameworks.

This role is remote-first, with travel aligned to client needs.

Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Advisory
  • Lead discovery sessions to understand financial reporting requirements

  • Translate business and compliance needs into Workday reporting solutions

  • Advise clients on reporting governance, security, and best practices

  • Provide subject matter expertise across financial analytics and reporting strategy

Solution Design & Build
  • Design and build Workday Financial reports including:

    • Advanced, Matrix, and Composite Reports

    • Financial Statements

    • Dashboards and scorecards

    • Calculated Fields

  • Develop reporting frameworks that support operational, executive, and regulatory needs

  • Ensure reporting aligns with Workday Financials configuration and data structures

Implementation & Optimization
  • Support full lifecycle Financials implementations

  • Partner with Functional and Technical teams on data validation and integrations

  • Lead report testing and validation

  • Optimize and enhance existing reporting environments

Deployment & Support
  • Guide clients through UAT and go-live

  • Provide knowledge transfer and reporting training

  • Support post-production enhancements and reporting improvements

Travel Expectations
  • Travel up to 20–30%, depending on client requirements

  • Travel typically tied to key milestones such as design workshops or go-live

  • Majority of delivery conducted virtually

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Workday Financials implementation experience

  • Strong expertise in Workday Financial Reporting

  • Experience building advanced reports, calculated fields, and financial dashboards

  • Deep understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting structures

  • Ability to lead client workshops and executive-level reporting discussions

  • Workday Financials certification required
