Principal Electrical Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer, Electrical Engineering to serve as a technical leader within our electronics organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on expert who leads through influence, deep expertise, and ownership of complex systems
You will play a critical role in shaping electrical and embedded system architecture, driving engineering excellence, and guiding cross-functional teams to deliver innovative consumer products from concept through high-volume production. This position requires a strong voice in technical decision-making, the ability to mentor informally, and a passion for building robust, scalable designs.
Key Responsibilities (Technical Leadership)
  • Own and drive system-level architecture for electrical and embedded designs across multiple product programs.
  • Act as a technical authority in power electronics and embedded systems, guiding design decisions and trade-offs.
  • Lead by influence across cross-functional teams (ME, ID, Product, Manufacturing), ensuring alignment and strong execution.
  • Drive engineering rigor and best practices in schematic design, PCB layout, firmware integration, and validation.
  • Lead design reviews and technical deep dives, challenging assumptions and raising the bar for quality and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers through collaboration, design reviews, and technical coaching.
  • Identify risks early and drive resolution, ensuring product performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Champion DFM/DFT and scalable design principles, working closely with manufacturing and suppliers.

Technical & Program Responsibilities
  • Design and develop consumer product electronics from concept through production and sustaining support.
  • Contribute directly through schematic capture and PCB design oversight
  • Support DVT (design verification testing), EMC, and regulatory compliance (UL, FCC, CE, IEC).
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Lead prototype development, testing, and validation, including interpretation of results and design iteration.
  • Support field issue investigation and root cause analysis, driving continuous product improvement.
  • Partner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective implementations.

What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a strong track record at the senior/principal level
  • Deep expertise in power electronics (AC/DC, motor control, thermal systems) and embedded systems design.
  • Strong experience in analog and digital design, including schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs through influence, not authority.
  • Experience delivering high-volume consumer products from concept to production.
  • Strong understanding of DFM, DFT, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to drive clarity across teams.

How You Lead
  • Set the technical bar for the organization through your work and decision-making
  • Influence outcomes across teams through credibility and expertise
  • Mentor by doing, elevating others through collaboration and feedback
  • Drive alignment in ambiguity, helping teams converge on the right solutions
  • Own critical decisions and outcomes, ensuring successful product delivery

This role is perfect for someone who wants to stay deeply hands-on while operating at a leadership level, shaping products, influencing teams, and driving engineering excellence.
