Your role at a glance

NTT Global Data Centers is seeking a Principal High Voltage (HV) Engineer to lead the design, strategy, and execution of mission-critical power infrastructure for large-scale data center developments across the United States, while serving as a global technical authority supporting projects in EMEA, APAC, and other regions.
This is a high-impact, senior technical role responsible for shaping how we secure, design, and deploy power at scale. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in high-voltage systems, strong utility engagement experience, and the ability to influence complex projects across geographies.

What we are looking for

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Lead HV Engineering for U.S. Projects

  • Own the technical strategy and design of HV systems (typically 115kV–500kV) for greenfield and brownfield data center developments
  • Define and guide:         
    • Substation design (AIS/GIS, redundancy, protection & control)
    • Transmission and distribution interfaces
  • Partner closely with utilities, EPC contractors, OEMs, and internal teams to drive timely, reliable power delivery
  • Support site selection and due diligence, including power availability, grid constraints, and interconnection timelines

2. Serve as Global HV Subject Matter Expert

  • Provide technical leadership and advisory support to projects across multiple regions
  • Review and guide regional designs to ensure alignment with global standards, risk tolerance, and scalability requirements
  • Share best practices and lessons learned to elevate engineering consistency and performance globally

3. Drive Standards, Innovation & Strategy

  • Lead development and continuous improvement of global HV design standards and engineering playbooks
  • Identify opportunities to:
    • Accelerate time-to-power
    • Improve system resilience and redundancy
    • Optimize capital efficiency while managing long-term risk
  • Stay current on grid trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies impacting large-scale power infrastructure

KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Transmission systems (≥115kV)
    • Substation design and equipment (AIS/GIS)
    • Protection and control systems
    • Utility interconnection processes
  • Proven track record delivering complex, mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, development, and external partners
  • Experience in data center or hyperscale infrastructure projects (Preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (Preferred)

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 12+ years of experience in high-voltage engineering within utilities, substations, or large-scale infrastructure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel by airplane
  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.

Work conditions & other requirements

  • Remote-based position with extensive daily use of digital collaboration tools
  • Remote with travel approximately 15% of the time.

Compensation Pay Range

"This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $187,800 - $240,000.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
