The Principal Product Manager will partner with the business and client stakeholders to define the vision and strategy for large scale portfolio or multiple portfolios of products, build and execute on roadmaps and measure business value delivered. This role is also responsible for demand management, project and incident escalation, 3rd party vendor relationship management, release planning, cross functional coordination and business or client facing presentations to showcase capability and/or communicate health of active initiatives. In the context of Magellan IT, a ‘product” could be a discrete application, platform, process or service provided by IT to our internal and external partners.
  • Bring thought leadership and best practices to the organization, acting as a coach and/or mentor to junior members of the team. 
  • Work with business partners to define business value and set business boundaries for the product.
  • Assume responsibility for the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for that product or product line.
  • Deliver upon commitments to that roadmap including participation in design sessions, scrum meetings, product demonstrations, planning sessions, and mitigation strategies as impediments arise.
  • Leverage direct resources, indirect reports, and third parties for assistance in defining technical requirements or design needs for new initiatives.
  • Develop release plans with specific feature/functionality based on value to the business and speed to market.
  • Identify product definition compared to industry landscape and perform “build versus buy” analysis, partnering with business and leveraged technical resources to define architectural landscape, integration capabilities, and impacts to people, processes, or technologies as a result.
  • Understand and assess pricing and licensing models for infrastructure and software as a solution (SaaS) consumption based on transactions, named user, concurrent user, etc., or on-premise perpetual licenses with annual maintenance contracts, etc.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities in current state product as well as supporting environments to enhance and protect data integrity, including data efficacy and reconciliation.
  • Understand and participate in financial planning and monitoring, whether in direct or leveraged cost centers, including budget setting, forecasting, tracking spend, and providing variance explanations.
  • Partner with sales to ensure technical capabilities align with proposed scope of services, including reviewing and/or proposing contractual language to safeguard the interests of the client and of Magellan IT.
  • Partner with account management and other business stakeholders to ensure business requirements for a given initiative are accurately captured and communicated to leveraged development teams.
  • Lead or participate in client facing meetings to define scope, outline capabilities, and/or represent status of an initiative.
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and monitor product efficacy to the business.
  • Forecast product obsolescence and migration strategies for data transition functionality upon retiring product.
  • Perform cross organization collaboration with project managers, iteration managers and other key stakeholders to ensure product delivery, adoption and efficacy.
  • Assess cost versus benefit and return on investment (ROI) analyses.
  • Assess changes in business needs and adapt product direction and/or identify risks and associated mitigation strategies.

$117,860

Salary Maximum:

$200,360

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
