Job Overview:
Arm is seeking a Principal Mechanical Thermal Engineer to join our Data Center Engineering organization and lead engineering coordination efforts with external data center developers. You will be in a position of technical leadership and working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver best-in-class infrastructure solutions. The ideal location for this position will be based out of Austin. Roughly 10-20% travel time can be expected.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and review design standards and specifications, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Arm's reliability goals.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis of designs, ensuring efficiency and reliability of operation.
• Provide direction, coordinate with, and review the designs of external consultants and partners.
• Ensure cross-compatible and future-proof designs between IT equipment and facilities infrastructure.
• Conduct site inspections and factory acceptance tests for critical infrastructure and equipment.
• Provide expert guidance on thermal systems design, including coordination requirements with other trades.
• Stay informed on the latest industry developments and emergent technologies as related to IT equipment thermal management.
• Provide direction and mentorship to designers, interns, and junior-level engineers.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Deep technical knowledge of hydronic infrastructure and equipment found within data center environments, including direct liquid cooling systems, CDUs, pumps, cold plates, water and coolant chemistry, and heat exchangers.
• Experience with CFD modelling for data center environments.
• Extensive experience coordinating with IT teams for infrastructure design in support of HPC racks and data centers.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-discipline team.
• Comfortable with a fast-paced environment that is rapidly developing and changing.
• Prior experience with hyperscale data center environments or co-location facilities at the Tier III or Tier IV levels as defined by Uptime Institute
"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience :
• Central plant equipment (chillers, etc.
• Experience with 2-phase direct liquid cooling systems.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent international certification (this position will not be stamping drawings as EOR).
• Visio, BlueBeam, AutoCAD, or other design and drafting software.

Salary Range:
$241,100-$326,100 per year
