TITLE: Principal Product Manager, Policy 

 

The Principal Product Manager, Policy is responsible for defining and evolving the product direction for Duck Creek’s Policy Administration System, with accountability for core policy lifecycle capabilities. This role owns the Policy domain roadmap and drives prioritization decisions that balance customer outcomes, regulatory requirements, and platform sustainability. Operating as a senior individual contributor, the role applies deep product judgment within established product strategy and governance. The position partners closely with Engineering, Architecture, and go-to-market teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-impact product capabilities.   

  • Define and own the product roadmap for the Policy Administration System across the full policy lifecycle, including quoting, issuance, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and rewrites. 

  • Act as the general manager for your product, owning strategy, execution, and financial outcomes. 

  • Translate insurer needs, market signals, and regulatory requirements into clearly articulated, prioritized product capabilities and outcomes. 

  • Provide senior individual-contributor leadership for application-level AI capabilities within Policy workflows, including use case definition, prioritization, and governance alignment. 

  • Lead structured product discovery to frame complex customer and business problems and guide solution definition in partnership with Engineering and Architecture. 

  • Steward the long-term evolution of the Policy domain by articulating a coherent product narrative aligned to customer outcomes and platform standards. 

  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to ensure Policy capabilities are scalable, explainable, compliant, and aligned with Duck Creek’s technology strategy. 

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Sales, and Professional Services to support value articulation, enablement, and consistent positioning of Policy capabilities. 

  • Evaluate trade-offs across customer impact, delivery complexity, and technical sustainability to inform roadmap and investment decisions. 

  • Use product performance data, customer feedback, and operational metrics to guide continuous improvement and prioritization. 

  • Operate effectively within established product governance, escalation paths, and decision-making forums. 

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and constraints impacting Policy delivery and escalate with clear options and recommendations. 

  • Model strong individual ownership, accountability, and cross-functional partnership as a senior product leader. 

 

WHAT YOU’VE DONE:  

  • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree and/or equivalent experience relevant to functional area 

  • 8–12 years of experience in product management within SaaS or enterprise software environments  

  • Demonstrated experience owning complex product domains or platforms   

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS: 

  • Preferred experience with Policy Administration Systems in the insurance industry, delivering configurable SaaS products, and exposure to AI-enabled features at the application or workflow level  

  • Exposure to Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, subscription-based insurance models, and Global Commercial (including London Market) environments is strongly preferred 

  • Knowledge of insurance policy lifecycle processes and operational workflows 

  • Ability to decompose complex business needs into structured product requirements 

  • Skill in prioritizing competing initiatives using value-, risk-, and effort-based frameworks 

  • Ability to synthesize customer input, market data, and regulatory considerations into product decisions 

  • Working knowledge of agile and iterative software delivery practices 

  • Ability to partner effectively with engineering and architecture leaders 

  • Strong written communication skills for documenting product rationale and decisions 

  • Strong verbal communication skills for engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Ability to operate autonomously within defined strategic direction and governance models 

  • Judgment to surface risks, dependencies, and trade-offs with clear recommendations 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities in a complex product environment 

  • Consistent accountability for commitments, timelines, and outcomes 

 

WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW:  

Travel: 0-10% 

Location: Remote US or Remote Canada (Ontario only) 

Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in the country of job location. The Company does not sponsor visa petitions for this position. 

Actual compensation for this role is determined based on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location, where permitted by law.

For reference, the expected salary range for this position is generally positioned as follows based on candidate location:

  • 171,900 – 297,300: Candidates living in the Boston, New York City–Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, or Washington, DC metropolitan areas
  • 163,700 – 233,900: Candidates living in Chicago, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Minneapolis, or Philadelphia metropolitan areas, or in Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island, or Vermont
  • 155,600 – 222,300: Candidates living in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Oregon, or Wisconsin
  • 137,800 – 215,400: For all other U.S. locations
  • 150,000 - 200,000 CAD: For all Canada locations

This position is also eligible for annual bonus compensation, subject to plan terms and individual eligibility.

Final compensation will be determined based on the factors outlined above and in accordance with applicable law.
