Job Description:

Position Description:

Designs and develops web environments on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using S3, API Gateway, and Lambda to enhance application performance. Applies Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform, while implementing DevOps practices for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes. Promotes standard methodologies in coding, secure application development, and test coverage. Ensures cross-browser compatibility and addresses asynchronous requests handling through Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), utilizing monitoring solutions such as CloudWatch to maintain application performance. Develops complex or multiple software applications and conducts studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives. 
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting Web application development using Java and messaging systems – Kafka and IBM MQ. 

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing and supporting Web application development using Java and messaging systems – Kafka and IBM MQ.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) supporting the full Application Development Life Cycle (ADLC) -- analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and deploying modern applications -- using Java, Golang, JavaScript, Node.js, CSS3, HTML5, Azure, and Temporal; and designing and implementing coarse and fine-grained authorization frameworks, using SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and Open Policy Agent (OPA).  
  • DE building high volume, low-latency, highly concurrent, and multi-tenant applications on Cloud platforms and traditional infrastructure leveraging Linux and UNIX environments; and developing HTTP based microservices and implementing service-oriented architecture using secure frameworks -- Open Policy Agents with databases (MongoDB and Postgres), in an Agile environment. 
  • DE writing React components for responsive User Interface (UI) and services, using Visual Studio for website features and mobile devices; developing front-end websites and dashboards, using client-side technologies -- Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, and High Charts; performance testing using K6; and creating unit test suites using Jest. 
  • DE building containerized Software as a Service (SaaS) based applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure AKS; deploying and supporting containerized applications, using Continuous Integration (CI) and build tools (Maven, Git, and GitHub actions), including deploying using Jenkins, packaging using NPM, and integration testing using Robot framework; and designing and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines by establishing processes or practices that support day to day work and deployment in an Agile Project Model, using Jenkins or GitHub.
