About your role:

This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include completing well defined process engineering tasks. You will collaborate with project team(s) to complete deliverables as assigned by the project manager or project engineer, in alignment with the project schedule, budget, and scope of work.

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities

  • Technical Collaboration.
    • Reviews deliverables with peers and supervisors as questions arise.
    • Ensures quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures (intra- and inter-disciplinary checks) are performed on deliverables generated.
    • Participates in department meetings, lunch-n-learns, and training.
  • Produces process engineering deliverables, as defined by the RACI model (Responsible, Accountable, Consultative, Informed), in alignment with ZAP standard processes and procedures.
    • Process Simulation.
    • Block Flow Diagram.
    • Process Flow Diagram.
    • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Process Safety Valve (PSV) Calculations/Sizing.
    • Operating Procedures.
    • Flare Study.
    • Vendor data technical evaluations.
  • Collaborates with project team members on interdisciplinary technical deliverables, as defined by the RACI.
    • Design Basis.
    • Line List.
    • Equipment sizing, datasheets, and specifications.
    • Cause & Effect.
    • Controls Narrative.
    • Process conditions for instrument and Control Valve (CV) datasheets.
  • Collaborates and communicates with project team regarding overall project progress and status of process-specific deadlines and deliverables.
    • Internal and external kickoff meetings.
    • Weekly status meetings and lead reports.
    • Design review meetings and model review meetings.
    • Reviews project schedule and discuss deadlines with team.
    • Reviews discipline specific budget and flag issues/concerns.
    • Close out projects and compile job books.
  • Develop industry knowledge and skillset through completion of technical deliverables associated with projects.
    • Reviews calculations, design guidelines, and industry standards for understanding and comprehension.
    • Increases understanding while picking up redlines and QA/QC comments on deliverables.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:

Company Hours

This position works 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.

40 Hour Work Week

Monday through Friday, Hours may vary with the workload.

Evenings/Weekends/OT

As needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.

Process Engineer 2

3+ years of experience practicing discipline specific engineering on multidiscipline project teams required.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering required.

In addition to all essential duties listed above, this role communicates deliverable issues, concerns with the team, and has minimal client interface for meetings. This role also provides guidance on technical matters to peers to solidify understanding of industry knowledge. This role should be able to work with minimal direction and work effectively from a multi-week assignment list, while also proactively flagging deviations any time they arise.

Specialized Skills

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Problem-solving skills to be able to resolve simple problems quickly and effectively.
  • Basic self-direction and responsibility for own tasks, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Basic leadership skills and some general experience leading work groups or task forces in specific projects.
  • Competent user of technology and software required to execute daily tasks.
  • Experience with HYSYS, Unisim, ProMax, and/or VMG Symmetry. Proficient with Excel.
  • Must have a valid, active driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.

Supervisory Expectations:

  • The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members.

Independence of Action

  • Supervisor/manager closely monitors work; detailed instructions and procedures are generally provided.
