The process manager for gravel and sand production of the DBM Vlissingen plant oversees the washing, crushing and screening of sand and gravel to produce aggregate of specified size for sale to e.g. the concrete industry.  The manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in these processes, adjusting equipment and ensuring the production meets quality and safety standards. She/he also manages staff, coordinates production schedules with our shipping department, monitors inventory levels and ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Your responsibilities
  • Run the process, end‑to‑end: Oversee washing, crushing and screening to produce aggregates to spec for customers (e.g., concrete industry).

  • Lead the shifts: Coordinate 3 shifts / ±20 operators; plan daily priorities, allocate resources, and ensure safe, efficient execution (your role is day hours).

  • Translate quality to action: Turn lab results & specifications into clear set‑ups and instructions; verify on the outside work floor that settings and outputs match target curves.

  • Equipment & settings: Adjust screens, crushers, wash circuits and water flows; monitor throughput, moisture, yield and gradation; troubleshoot bottlenecks in real time.

  • Quality assurance: Perform routine checks, trigger lab tests, and lead root‑cause analyses when quality drifts—close the loop with corrective and preventive actions.

  • People & safety: Coach operators, build capability on SOPs and best practices, and uphold HSE and environmental compliance at all times.

  • Planning & logistics: Align production schedules with Shipping, monitor inventory levels (bunkers/stockpiles), and secure on‑time, in‑full deliveries.

  • Continuous improvement: Drive practical optimizations on runtime, uptime, yield and energy/water efficiency; standardize successful settings across shifts.

  • Stakeholder alignment: Work closely with Maintenance, Lab, Shipping and the Plant Manager; escalate when needed—final decisions on personnel & investments remain with the Plant Manager.

Your profile
  • 5–10 years experience in the sand & gravel / aggregates industry, covering washing, crushing, screening and grading.

  • Solid grasp of material testing & specifications (sieves, PSD curves, moisture, fines, cleanliness) and how to achieve them in the plant.

  • Hands‑on with heavy‑duty equipment (wheel loaders, excavators) and comfortable around process equipment and control panels.

  • Excellent communicator: able to turn theory and lab results into clear, practical instructions for operators on the work floor.

  • Fluent in Dutch and basic English.

  • Ready to mix office work (planning, reporting, coordination) with outside plant activities (checks, adjustments, operator coaching).

  • Proactive, safety‑minded, data‑curious and energized by leading a multi‑shift operation.

our offer
  • An extensive mobility program for a healthy work-life balance.

  • A permanent training track which allows you to develop yourself personally and professionally.

  • A stimulating, innovative workplace with numerous growth opportunities.

  • A people-oriented environment with an interactive health program and a focus on employee wellbeing.
