The Process & Risk Specialist ensures DNOW’s operational integrity by evaluating compliance with corporate policies and established business frameworks. This role is responsible for conducting process assessments, performing site visits, and analyzing operational reports to mitigate financial risk and drive efficiency across all global locations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operational Assessments: Conduct comprehensive process assessments at assigned locations with a high level of integrity, maintaining meticulous records via both virtual and in-person reviews.
  • Risk Identification: Analyze, document, and map business processes to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and financial risks (e.g., inventory variances, revenue leakage, or unethical practices).
  • Reporting & Strategy: Author extensive reports and executive summaries detailing findings and providing best-practice recommendations. (Writing sample required).
  • Stakeholder Presentation: Confidently present findings and strategic improvements to executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and Finance Officers.
  • Training & Education: Facilitate onsite and virtual training sessions for branches regarding risk awareness, internal controls, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Audit Collaboration: Support Finance, Internal Audit, and External Audit activities as required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of current assessment tools and identify opportunities to enhance the team’s risk-measurement methodologies.
  • Asset Integrity: At times, provide oversight of physical inventory counts as directed by the Director of Process & Risk Management.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years in Process Improvement, Risk Management, Internal Audit/Compliance, or Operations.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with risk assessment frameworks (SOX) and ERP systems. SAP experience is preferred, along with the ability to learn other systems such as Syteline and Oracle.
  • Analytical Skills: High level of professional skepticism, strong detail orientation, and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to confidently present difficult process breakdowns to Plant Management, Regional Leadership, and Corporate VPs, up to the CFO level.
  • Virtual Presence: Proficient in hosting and managing Microsoft Teams meetings, with the ability to speak confidently and professionally while on camera.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel. Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, or VBA is a significant plus, but not required.
  • Self-Management: Must be able to work independently while traveling or remote. Ability to manage multiple assessments simultaneously and adjust work schedules to accommodate plants in various global time zones.
  • Objectivity & Judgement: Ability to review data and processes without bias. Must remain objective when auditing locations or presenting findings to operations management.
  • Travel & Logistics: Ability to travel 30% – 50% (at times with short notice). Weekend travel to be onsite during location work hours also required. Responsible for managing a yearly assessment calendar, proactive analysis and implementation of tools/ controls to identify risky transactions, scheduling/rescheduling site visits, and coordinating all work travel arrangements in adherence to corporate expense policies.
