The Role
We're looking for a Product Design Director to lead the design of our Afterpay experience globally. This role will focus on reimagining how people access, spend, and manage money across Afterpay's consumer apps and the broader commerce surface - including our web checkout experience as well as Cash App Pay - in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Canada.
Afterpay is one of the most trusted names in BNPL, and our products are a crucial way customers engage with the brand across their shopping journey. We're now investing deeply across mobile, web, and commerce touchpoints to reimagine the end-to-end shopping and checkout experience for our current customers as well as the next generation of consumers. The opportunity is to rethink everything, identify new opportunities, and make it a best-in-class experience. As a Product Design Director, you'll be responsible for shaping the end-to-end product vision and experience across these surfaces, setting the quality bar, and helping define the future of how people shop and pay over time.
At Cash App and Afterpay, design is at the heart of how we build products. You'll join a diverse team of designers, researchers, and writers reimagining the financial system for the next generation. In this role, you'll directly shape the future of Afterpay's global customer experience, ensuring we deliver trust, value and delight in every interaction.
You Will
  • Lead design across the Afterpay global apps, from vision through execution.
  • Own the end-to-end customer experience across entire product areas, not just individual features.
  • Partner with product, engineering, research, data, sales and marketing to define strategy and roadmap.
  • Translate complex financial and commerce concepts into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy customer experiences.
  • Elevate design craft and customer impact across core surfaces including home, checkout, payments, and post-purchase.
  • Drive clarity and alignment in ambiguous problem spaces, balancing global consistency with local market needs.
  • Contribute to and evolve Cash App's design system while maintaining Afterpay's distinct brand equity.
  • Mentor other designers, modeling excellence in craft, storytelling, and cross-functional influence.
  • Represent the voice of the customer and push for bold, customer-first solutions that scale globally.

You Have
  • 12+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio of whole-product ownership and consumer-facing apps.
  • Proven experience defining product strategy and following through with exceptional design execution.
  • A track record of shipping high-impact, high-quality end-to-end product experiences at scale.
  • Mastery of interaction, visual, and systems design.
  • Experience leading design in complex ecosystems that span multiple geographies and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to move fluidly between visionary thinking and detailed execution.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills that inspire teams and executives alike.
  • Experience mentoring and leveling up other designers.
  • A passion for shaping the future of money management and commerce for millions of people.
