Design at Pennylane

Design sits at the center of this mission and its purpose is to deliver a seamless, accessible and enjoyable experience for our users. Our team of 35+ product designers work across different tracks that are divided into cross-functional squads each consisting of Engineering, Product and Design. Autonomy, trust and transparency are the key values upon which our culture is built, this is directly reflected in how our designers operate on a day-to-day basis. At Pennylane, designers are expected to actively contribute all the way from defining the problem space, to research and testing.

We are seeking a Product Designer with strong B2B product design experience to help elevate and maintain an excellent user experience for our accountants and businesses. If you like solving real user problems in a highly collaborative environment and possess a genuine curiosity for understanding user behaviour, then you’ll find yourself surrounded by likeminded individuals at Pennylane.

For this role, we are looking for individuals with:

- The ability to understand problems and empathise with users through user research and data analysis, and to turn the result into actionable insights.
- Experience working closely with dedicated developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand technical constraints, align on project goals, and iterate on design solutions.
- Great communication skills and the ability to share knowledge with others, in the team and beyond, in a meaningful way.
- Excellent visual design skills with experience working on complex systems, including for example multiple modules, advanced features, and intricate data structures.
- The ability to document your design decisions and work with engineers and product managers to drive your projects forward, challenge limitations, adjust schedules, find alternatives, and advocate for your solutions in a relevant way.
- Experience generating new opportunities and ideas to improve our processes, products, and culture.
- Hands-on experience coaching and mentoring more junior members of the team.
- Fluent in both French and English. Being able to run user interviews in french is a must.

What you can expect from your life at Pennylane

Within one month

- You’ll learn everything about our company, our teams, and our vision during the first onboarding week.
- You’ll familiarise yourself with the product and the accounting industry (You will have access to a lot of documentation and will assist to trainings organised by your peers)
- You’ll get a very deep knowledge of our Product and Design organisation, methods, and culture
- You’ll get acquainted with the people you will work with : the Design team, the PM and engineers of your squad, and of course, our users

Within 3 months

- You will lead discovery and user research sessions ; diving into data, user feedback and business goals to tailor great user interviews and learn the best from our users.
- You will ensure a continuous delivery on your scope of the product, hand-to-hand with your PM, with the right level of quality for the right purpose (low-to-high fi, prototypes) and in consistency with the design system.
- You will contribute to the team effort, nourishing the team with your experience, reviewing your peers and tackling transversal topics.

Within 6 months

- You will mentor juniors Product Designers
- You will participate in the recruitment of new team members
- You'll remain on the look out for the best UX/UI practices, benchmarking the global tech ecosystem, aiming towards creating the best experience for Pennylane products.

And beyond : The Design team will grow in the future 🚀

- Who Interview with two people from the design team : 45 min - 1 H
- Assessment at home + review with 2 other people from the design Team : 1 H
- Last Round with our Head of Design and CPO : 1 H
