Design and ship product-led growth initiatives to improve onboarding, activation, and retention for the LiveKit product, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
The summary above was generated by AI

LiveKit is building the infrastructure layer for the voice-driven era of computing. Our platform gives developers everything they need to build, test, deploy, scale, and observe agents in production. Founded in 2021, LiveKit powers voice AI applications for OpenAI, xAI, Salesforce, Coursera, Spotify, and thousands of others, collectively facilitating billions of calls each year.

While we operate as an infrastructure company, we believe great design is essential to making powerful systems usable, intuitive, and delightful—especially for developers.

As LiveKit scales, self-serve growth is becoming a core engine of the business. This role exists to ensure developers can onboard faster, reach production more reliably, and continue to succeed over time—without sacrificing craft, clarity, or quality.

You’ll thrive at LiveKit if you:
  • Are obsessed with building the best possible product for customers

  • Are the go-to person for tackling ambiguous, high-impact problems

  • Move fast and ship, but still care deeply about polish, detail, and quality

  • Balance craft and pragmatism, knowing when to refine and when to iterate

  • Learn quickly and enjoy picking up new skills, tools, and techniques

  • Enjoy working closely with engineers and thinking in systems

The best way to impress us is with thoughtful ways you’d implement LiveKit

About This Role:

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Growth team, focused primarily on product-led growth surfaces.

You’ll partner closely with a Growth PM and a dedicated engineering team to improve onboarding, activation, conversion, and retention across the core LiveKit product. This role is ideal for a designer who is scrappy, fast-moving, deeply thoughtful about developers, and unwilling to compromise on craft.

You’ll work across multiple small-to-medium initiatives at once, shipping improvements frequently, learning from real usage, and raising the bar for product experience as LiveKit scales.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design and ship product-led growth initiatives focused on activation, conversion, and retention

  • Own and evolve onboarding and early product experiences within the LiveKit Cloud dashboard, core product, and additional surfaces.

  • Identify where developers stall, get confused, or drop off — and turn insights into clear, shippable improvements.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Docs to move from insight → experiment → shipped iteration.

  • Design across product and developer-facing surfaces, including:

    • Cloud dashboard and onboarding flows

    • In-product education, setup flows, and empty states

    • Documentation, tutorials, and developer onboarding content

    • SDK entry points, examples, templates, and GitHub READMEs

  • Balance speed and quality — moving quickly without sacrificing usability or craft

  • Contribute to and evolve LiveKit’s design system to support scalable, repeatable growth work

  • Collaborate with other designers to keep the overall product experience cohesive and high quality

While you may occasionally collaborate with Marketing or Web on entry-point alignment, this is a product-focused role

Who You Are:
  • 5+ years of experience designing products, ideally for developers or technical audiences

  • Strong UX, interaction and visual design skills, with a portfolio showing polished, real-world shipped work

  • Deep empathy for how developers learn, explore, debug, and adopt tools

  • Comfortable moving fast, iterating, and juggling multiple initiatives

  • Able to zoom out to understand systems, funnels, and flows, while still sweating interaction details

  • A clear communicator who can explain design decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale to cross-functional partners

  • Highly proficient with Figma and modern design workflows

Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience designing onboarding, activation, or growth-oriented product surfaces

  • Familiarity with developer tooling, APIs, or OSS ecosystems

  • Comfort reading or writing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or working closely with React / Tailwind

  • Experience collaborating with docs, developer education, or DevRel teams

Our Commitment to You:

We care deeply about building a team where people can do the best work of their careers — with autonomy, trust, and a high bar for craft.

  • An opportunity to build something truly impactful at global scale

  • The chance to contribute to open source alongside world-class engineers

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits

  • Flexible vacation policy
