This role sits within Optum Serve's Technology Product Management and Planning organization. The organization manages activities for a specific product or group of products, from product definition and planning through production, release and end-of-life. It is responsible for managing the full product lifecycle with a technical focus, including the strategy, design, development, and end-of-life of new, existing or acquired products.
Team members in this role use their knowledge of interface design, research methods, accessibility guidelines, and current programming techniques to design, research, develop and assess products and services to enhance the overall user experience and create usable and accessible digital experiences. This role requires flexible skills in process design and process mapping, familiarity with front-end technologies, and the ability to interact with and win support from team members at varying levels cross-company. Team members in this role exhibit a high degree of ingenuity and resourcefulness.
To support this mission, OSIT has embarked on a multi-year modernization journey, within which the Software Engineer will play a key role: working within our legacy application as we update it to a cloud-native platform which follows modern design standards.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

- Identify UX issues in designs, products and services
- Assist with training for peers and clients

- Contributes to the identification/prioritization of solution through analysis and discussions
- Designs solutions within a single channel
- Has base understanding of some bodies of technologies and expands that knowledgebase when necessary
- Maintains a working knowledge of data collection, research methods and metrics
- Maintains a working knowledge of statistics and measurement concepts
- Gathers data using appropriate methods

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in user experience design, interaction design, user interface design, information architecture, content strategy
- 1+ years of experience incorporating user feedback in the design process (user research, NPS, focus groups, user data, etc.)
- 1+ years of experience working with and presenting to cross functional stakeholders such as Software Development, Product, Operations, Sales, Marketing, etc.
- Experience with the software development process
- Experience with design and prototyping tools such as: Figma, Sketch, Miro and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Portfolio demonstrating expertise and skill in creating user centric experiences
- United States citizenship is required for this position
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a suitability or determination of eligibility for a Confidential/Secret or Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in human centered design, design, or related field
- Experience with Agile software development
- Experience using metrics and analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Tableau, PowerBI, etc) in order to identify improvements
- Proven working knowledge of HTML/CSS
