About Protera

Welcome to Protera Technologies, where we’re reimagining how SAP-centric organizations work in the cloud. Since 1998, we’ve been pioneers in bringing SAP and related applications to the cloud—think Microsoft Azure and AWS. Our global crew, spanning the US with offices in Chicago (HQ), Athens, Greece, and Mumbai, India, is on a mission to make IT smoother, faster, and more fun for our clients.

But here’s the thing: we’re not your typical “serious tech company.” While we’re obsessed with delivering top-notch IT solutions, we’re all about keeping it real, approachable, and enjoyable. We work hard, but we also play hard—whether we’re collaborating on cloud optimizations, enhancing security, or just hanging out as a team.

At Protera, we believe in empowering SAP-centric organizations with the best tools and tech to drive growth, and we love what we do. Our values? Simple: stay curious, stay authentic, and make meaningful connections. We celebrate wins big and small, whether it's a successful project or a fun team event.

If you’re looking for a place where tech and fun collide, come join us and see what makes Protera a great place to work.

The Product Engineer will bridge the gap between product vision and technical execution.  As an engineer who understands both what we’re building and why, this role focuses on ensuring that our product investments deliver meaningful impact through thoughtful design collaboration, feasibility assessment, and adoption measurement.

The Product Engineer will work closely with Engineering and those on the operational and delivery teams to help shape the direction of our platform, drive high-quality delivery, and validate the success of the features we launch.

Responsibilities

Product & Design Collaboration

  • Foster close collaboration between Engineering and Operations.
  • Understand how time being spent by Operations can improve through tooling and/or AI Agents.
  • Curate and manage the feedback loop between operators, consumers, and the development team.
  • Identify features that are additive to Protera’s valuation, in terms of savings or marketable opportunities.
  • Disqualify features that would not return sufficient ROI.

Technical Leadership

  • Develop a deep understanding of our existing systems, services, and architecture to quickly assess the complexity and implications of proposed features.
  • Advocate for best practices in design, performance, and maintainability across feature development.
  • Contribute to architectural and design discussions with an emphasis on delivering elegant, sustainable solutions.

Feature Validation & Adoption

  • Define measurable success criteria for new product features in collaboration with analytics and product management.
  • Track post-launch adoption, performance, and engagement to ensure our investments are driving user and business value.
  • Partner with teams to iterate and refine based on real-world usage and data insights.

Cross-Team Enablement

  • Act as a bridge between multiple engineering teams to ensure consistency, share context, and promote reuse of platform components.
  • Mentor and influence engineers across the organization to align on product-centric thinking and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience (full-stack, backend, or platform development).
  • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and integration patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams.
  • Experience defining and tracking product metrics, user adoption, or A/B testing outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to translate between technical and product domains with clarity.
  • Passion for building great products, not just great code.
  • Previous experience in the MSP space strongly preferred.
