About Prophetic:

Real estate development is a multi-billion-dollar industry that has run on fragmented data, manual processes, and gut instinct for decades. Prophetic is changing that. We're building the AI-native platform that enables homebuilders, developers, and investors to find, analyze, and act on land opportunities from a single system — powered by proprietary technologies that process billions of data points across all 50 states. We are the market leader in our space, and our customers don't just use the product — they love it. We're not making teams more efficient. We're changing how they operate.

Prophetic is scaling fast — demand is outpacing our ability to hire, and we're just getting started. This is a once-in-a-lifetime team: sharp, low ego, deeply collaborative, and obsessed with building the best product in the industry. Come disrupt an industry with us.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Product Manager who combines deep domain expertise in land development and real estate with the judgment to drive product decisions for an AI-native platform. This is not a traditional PM role. Our product management function operates with an AI-augmented workflow that automates the operational overhead of PM work — triage, intake, status tracking, backlog scoring, stakeholder reporting, and structured document generation. What remains is the work that matters most and is hardest to automate: defining the right problems, making trade-off decisions under ambiguity, and translating customer pain into product direction.

You will own one or more product areas across our three core functions: Discovery (finding viable land opportunities), Evaluation (validating feasibility with zoning, site analysis, and market data), and Execution (managing deals and pipeline). You will work directly with engineering, data, and AI teams to ship features that compress the time between “this looks interesting” and “we have confidence to move forward” for our clients.

Prophetic has invested heavily in AI-augmented product management. Our PM infrastructure automates work that traditionally consumes 40–60% of a PM’s week. This means your time is spent on the work that actually differentiates a great PM: defining the right problem, making judgment calls on priority, building conviction with stakeholders, and deeply understanding the customer. You will not spend your days writing status updates, chasing thread replies, or manually scoring backlogs.

What You'll Do:

  • Own the backlog and roadmap for your area(s), grounded in deep understanding of how land developers, brokers, and acquisition teams actually work in the field.

  • Define problems worth solving. Translate customer conversations, expert feedback, competitive signals, and market dynamics into clear problem statements with measurable success criteria.

  • Make prioritization decisions that balance customer urgency, strategic value, and engineering feasibility — the scoring is automated, but the judgment is yours.

  • Serve as the internal authority on how land acquisition professionals discover, evaluate, and execute on opportunities — including zoning research, site feasibility, entitlement processes, and competitive market analysis.

  • Conduct customer discovery with enterprise homebuilders, multifamily developers, land brokerages, and industrial firms. Understand workflows, not just feature requests.

  • Maintain competitive awareness across mapping platforms, land data providers, and AI-enabled real estate tools. Know where we lead, where we trail, and what’s emerging.

  • Write executive summaries that frame problems for leadership decisions and detailed PRDs that give engineering clear, testable requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, AI, and data teams through the build cycle. Be available for trade-off decisions, scope calls, and edge case resolution.

  • Define acceptance criteria and success metrics that connect feature work to customer outcomes — not just output metrics.

  • Work with Chief Product Officer and engineering to manage your product area in coordination across product areas where features span Discovery, Evaluation, and Execution boundaries — particularly data infrastructure and map layers that underpin multiple products.

  • Partner with Sales and Account Management to translate pipeline feedback and client escalations into actionable product insights.

What You Need:

  • 5+ years of product management experience in a technology company shipping production software.

  • Direct domain experience in one or more of: land development, homebuilding, commercial real estate development, land brokerage, site planning, entitlements, or GIS/mapping platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to define product strategy and write clear, opinionated problem statements — not just feature lists.

  • Experience working with AI/ML-powered products where model capabilities and data quality are core to the user experience.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills. You’ve shipped features by aligning engineering, design, data, and business stakeholders around a shared direction.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You can make defensible decisions when data is incomplete and adjust course as you learn.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with geospatial data, mapping technologies, or GIS platforms.

  • Understanding of zoning codes, municipal permitting, or land use regulation at the county or municipal level.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or natural language interfaces for complex data.

  • Experience with data pipeline products — understanding how data quality, coverage, and freshness translate into user trust.

  • Background in proptech, land tech, or real estate SaaS.

  • Comfort working with AI-augmented workflows and tools as part of your own PM process.

Why Prophetic:

  • The team. Wide expertise, sharp, low ego, and genuinely fun to work with. We have each other's backs and we celebrate wins together.

  • Real ownership and impact from day one. Our customers make million-dollar decisions on our platform. Your work matters immediately.

  • AI-native product and AI-native workflows. Every team — engineering, sales, operations — runs on AI tooling daily.

  • Founder-led transparency. Leadership shares the financials, the strategy, and the hard calls with the whole team.

  • High growth, high demand. The product works, customers love it, and we are hiring to keep up. No shortage of opportunity here.

  • Flexibility. Remote, hybrid, or in-office with a great Portland, OR headquarters.

  • Self-starters who thrive in ambiguity. We're a startup. If you need someone to tell you what to do every morning, this isn't the place; if you come alive solving hard problems with smart people, it is.

Benefits (US-based Full-time):

  • 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you; 30% coverage for dependents

  • Competitive salary and meaningful early-stage equity

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Hybrid/Remote stipend

  • In-office perks: snacks, drinks, coffee, ping-pong table, and more — plus cuddles from Olive, our in-office Doberman!

  • Budget for intra-office travel

  • 2–3 annual team meetups in person

How We Work:

These four themes are how we think, build, and lead:

  • Truth — Say the hard thing. We speak plainly, flag problems early, and share what's actually going on.

  • Precision — Sign your name to it. Our customers make million-dollar decisions on our data. We get the details right.

  • Velocity — Speed compounds. Waiting doesn't. We ship daily and launch features every two to three weeks.

  • Ownership — Own it, then solve it. We own outcomes, not tasks. If something's broken, we fix it.

EEO:
