About Thalamus

Thalamus is the market leader in graduate medical education recruitment technology, empowering over 8,000 residency and fellowship programs at 800+ health systems and all new physicians throughout the US annually. As we expand beyond GME into broader physician recruitment, our unique dataset—spanning the full profiles of residency/fellowship applicants and programs—positions us to revolutionize hiring in healthcare through AI/ML and data-driven insights. This furthers our mission to ensure the right doctor ends up at the right hospital to treat the right patients.

About the Role

We're hiring a Product Manager to join our Product Development team. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you’ll lead mission-critical initiatives across both new and existing products. You’ll own the roadmap, run independent discovery efforts, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with design, engineering, and leadership to deliver scalable product outcomes.

This is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role ideal for a product leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds clarity for others, and operates with urgency. You’ll be expected to think strategically, execute tactically, and help mentor the next generation of PMs at Thalamus.

What You Will Achieve

  • Independently run discovery and design sprints (e.g., without Director present) to validate opportunities and define product direction

  • Drive 0→1 product development: plan 6+ months out, deliver MVPs, and scale adoption

  • For existing products, lead strategic planning 12 months out: 6 months in high fidelity, 6 months directional

  • Lead and coach junior PMs to elevate team capabilities and product thinking

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Design to execute against roadmap priorities

  • Present product strategy, tradeoffs, and rationale to C-level stakeholders — and incorporate their feedback

  • Lead quantitative product thinking: drive adoption of product analytics to inform decisions and measure impact

  • Align product initiatives with business priorities, customer needs, and go-to-market readiness

You Should Have

  • Proven success taking products from 0→1, including identifying user problems, defining MVPs, and launching

  • Experience planning product roadmaps 6–12 months out with both strategic and tactical depth

  • Strong product sense and ability to make thoughtful trade-offs across UX, engineering, and business impact

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and run discovery or design sprints independently

  • Comfortable engaging with executive stakeholders and handling tough feedback with clarity and confidence

  • Experience with product analytics and using quantitative insights to guide decisions

  • Experience managing product teams

  • Exceptional communication and expectation management — proactive, organized, and clear

  • A bias for action and the confidence to challenge ideas, push for clarity, and advocate for what’s right for the user and business

Bonus

  • Deep customer empathy in the healthcare space or related regulated industries

The salary for this position is $193 to $225k and a grant of stock options. Compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
