About this role: 

If you're driven to get results and would like to collaborate within a fast-paced, value-focused team, then GM Financial may be the right place for you.   As a member of an Agile Scrum team, the Product Owner-Technical is responsible for the success of the product by maximizing the output of the development team.  The Product Owner directs and coordinates the product development and serves as a collaborative liaison between the Product Management and Product Delivery teams by prioritizing and evaluating work. This individual will maintain the product/team backlog, leading backlog prioritization of initiatives, aligning experiences across channels and touch points to ensure the best business results.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer and business requirements to identify opportunities, solve complex problems, and translate needs into clear solution requirements, user stories, and actionable product enhancements.
  • Bridge business and technology teams by leveraging knowledge of system architecture, APIs, integrations, data platforms, AI/ML concepts, and technical dependencies to support prioritization, informed decision-making, and successful solution delivery.
  • Partner with Product Managers, architects, engineers, platform teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to evaluate solution options, understand design tradeoffs, identify risks and constraints, and align product roadmaps with enterprise architecture and platform capabilities.
  • Drive innovation by challenging current practices, leveraging stakeholder insights, exploring emerging technologies, and creating solutions that deliver measurable customer and business value.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process simplification, and AI-enabled solutions, utilizing cloud technologies, Databricks ecosystems, Bronze/Silver/Gold data architecture frameworks, and operational dependency management to maximize business outcomes.
  • Lead backlog refinement and prioritization activities in partnership with Product Management, developing high-quality, customer-centric user stories and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate across business, technology, and vendor teams to define requirements, manage dependencies, ensure clear communication, and deliver product initiatives within agreed timelines and service levels.
  • Communicate product roadmaps, project status, launch readiness, risks, and performance metrics to stakeholders at all levels, gaining alignment and support through effective influence and relationship management.
  • Measure product performance and business outcomes using data, processes, and systems to drive accountability, continuous improvement, and achievement of business objectives.
Qualifications

Experience and Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or additional equivalent work or military experience preferred. 
  • 0-2 years of experience as a Product Owner/Manager on an Agile Scrum team preferred
  • Working knowledge of risk management, loss control management and coordinating vendor relationships
  • Thorough understanding of Vision/Roadmap creation, Portfolio/Program/Team Backlog creation, refinement and prioritization
  • Proficient understanding of XML/JSON based APIs, Cloud Technologies, Service Virtualization, Test Data Management, and Data Driven Decision making
  • Working knowledge of the Agile/SAFe Lean enterprise concepts and best practices and how they are applied in the workplace
  • Experience working within a matrix organization, collaborating with business stakeholders, user experience teams, project managers, product managers, developers and others

Licenses and Certifications

  • Agile certification (PSPO, CSP-PO, or POPM/APM) preferred
