JOB DESCRIPTION
UL is seeking a Product Manager to help shape the future of our Prospector software. In this role, you will define product vision and requirements, translate user needs into clear user stories, and guide the development team through Agile delivery. You will collaborate with engineering, UX, and cross functional partners to refine the roadmap, prioritize the backlog, support sprint planning, and validate completed features for release. This role also helps create wireframes and prototypes, leads end of sprint demos, supports release documentation, and drives process efficiency and best practices across the product lifecycle. Success requires strong communication, analytical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Guide the development team by defining the vision, value and context of "why" behind product capabilities/features and help to plan "how" to best deliver them
  • Work closely with the Product Manager and software engineering, following Agile principles, to help define requirements/user stories, incorporate feature requests, estimate development effort and prioritize/groom backlog items
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager on roadmap management and release planning.
  • Work with UI/UX/Designers to generate wireframes and prototypes to support user stories and product demonstrations
  • Facilitate sprint planning and work alongside the Scrum Master to ensure that commitments are met and any re-prioritization decisions are fully informed
  • Support the development team throughout the development cycle by elaborating user stories and advising on priorities. Keep track of industry best practices and continuously suggest process efficiencies for the development team.
  • Organize the end-of-sprint demos to communicate to internal stakeholders the output of each sprint. Validate whether features have been completed and decide when they will be released
  • Support development of the technical product collateral, such as release notes and online help content
  • Actively model and promote a set of desired behaviors aligned with UL's WoW
  • Take ownership of own career and professional development by documenting and communicating career aspirations and any associated development needs to their managerSupport an efficient cross-functional matrix structure to enable effective product development lifecycle
  • Execute a robust set of processes, focused on product development, release management and product support
  • Leverage a standard set of product management and software development tools

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Facilitation skills - ability to lead small to medium groups of internal stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives
  • Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills
  • Product management tools - product design (e.g. Invision, Zeplin), development task management (e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps), documentation and knowledge (e.g. Confluence, SharePoint), collaboration (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Slack), roadmap and portfolio management (e.g. Aha!, Daptiv)
  • Scrum/Agile training and/or certification is highly preferred
  • Formal training and/or certification in Product Management is a plus
  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline
  • 3 years or more of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency
  • Working with remote teams is highly preferred

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000 USD and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
