About the role

Behind many of life’s most important transactions — buying a house, applying for a mortgage, getting a small business loan, or refinancing a credit card — is a network of credit relationships. Setpoint provides critical infrastructure for relationships between the world’s largest banks, credit funds and capital markets counterparties. We’re building trust in this system of credit.

We are looking for a Product Reliability Engineer to join our team!

This is an opportunity to have a big impact by building out Setpoint’s reliability function from the ground up. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background, thrives in ambiguous environments, and brings an owner’s mindset to reducing errors that impact our customers.

Who will love this job
  • A Reliability Champion: You take accountability, build frameworks from scratch, and see reliability as core to customer trust.
  • Root Cause Hunter: You dig into errors, uncover underlying issues, and design durable solutions that scale.
  • Scrappy Builder: You thrive in early-stage environments, experimenting, iterating, and improving quickly.
  • Collaborative Partner: You enjoy working across engineering, product, and support to ensure seamless experiences.
What you’ll do
  • Build and own the testing infrastructure that ensures reliability across reports, core code, and customer data inputs.
  • Define and lead Setpoint’s testing strategy, establishing standards and best practices to ensure reliability across the stack.
  • Track and categorize issues that negatively impact customers, creating visibility and a roadmap for prevention.
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and support teams to catch errors early and drive fixes.
  • Stress-test business logic and reporting to account for customer data permutations and edge cases.
  • Lay the foundation for a future “Go-Fast Team” dedicated to high-impact reliability improvements.
You should have
  • 5+ years in software engineering with deep testing experience
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with modern front-end driven testing practices to ensure reliability across the entire stack
  • Ability to design and implement testing environments from scratch
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ownership mentality with a proactive, detail-oriented approach
  • Experience at fast-scaling technology companies
