The Program Manager, Distribution Design acts as a strategic advisor to distribution customers, helping them solve complex operational and business problems and improve how they work with the company. The role leads strategic initiatives that improve outcomes for distribution customers, with a particular focus on optimizing current use cases, adding automation and AI, and partners closely with Sales, Customer Success, Implementation/Delivery, and Product Management to keep these initiatives aligned and moving.
This person combines strong problem-solving skills with program management discipline: diagnosing root causes, scoping solutions, and driving initiatives from idea to measurable impact.
Performance Objectives
Strategic Consulting with Distribution Customers
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to distribution customers, developing a deep understanding of their business models and operational challenges.
  • Lead consulting engagements that diagnose problems and identify opportunities to improve customer performance and outcomes.
  • Translate customer needs into clear, actionable recommendations and roadmaps.
  • Build lasting relationships with customer stakeholders to support long-term partnership and growth.

Strategic Initiatives, Automation & AI
  • Identify, scope, and lead cross-functional initiatives that improve outcomes for distribution customers, with an emphasis on automation and AI-driven solutions.
  • Drive initiatives from problem definition through implementation and measurable results.
  • Evaluate opportunities to apply automation and AI to streamline distribution workflows and improve decision-making.
  • Partner with Product Management to shape priorities based on customer needs and emerging automation/AI capabilities.

Cross-Functional Program Management
  • Partner with Sales on strategic distribution opportunities, providing consultative input during evaluation and planning.
  • Work with Customer Success and Implementation/Delivery to ensure smooth onboarding, adoption, and ongoing success.
  • Coordinate across Sales, Customer Success, Implementation/Delivery, and Product Management to remove obstacles and keep initiatives on track.
  • Manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communication for cross-functional programs.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Diagnose recurring operational and business problems affecting distribution customers and lead efforts to resolve root causes.
  • Develop repeatable frameworks and best practices for distribution customer engagements.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback from customers and internal teams to inform strategy and prioritization.
  • Track initiative outcomes and use data to refine approach and demonstrate value.

Competitive Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in strategic consulting, program management, or another customer-facing strategic role, ideally within distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues and develop practical, workable solutions.
  • Working knowledge of automation and AI technologies and how they apply to business and operational workflows.
  • Experience partnering with Sales, Customer Success, Implementation/Delivery, and Product Management teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities at once.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the distribution, wholesale, or supply chain industry.
  • Familiarity with automation, AI/ML tools, or process optimization methods.
  • Experience with change management or process design.
  • Background in management consulting or another advisory role.

Measures of Success
  • Successful delivery of strategic initiatives, particularly automation/AI programs, on time and with measurable impact.
  • Distribution customer satisfaction and strength of strategic relationships.
  • Adoption of automation- and AI-driven improvements across distribution workflows.
  • Quality of collaboration and alignment across Sales, Customer Success, Implementation/Delivery, and Product Management.
  • Measurable reduction in recurring operational and business problems for distribution customers.

This role is eligible for: Variable Compensation
Salary Range: 130,000 - 150,000
