BAE Systems is looking for a Program Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be a key program leadership member collaborating across functions and empowered to influence strategy and execution that ensures programs are executed with high quality. The program quality engineer will assure that customer, regulatory, and internal requirements are met at all levels of the value stream and will own the quality success of the program by coordinating quality resources (design, supplier, manufacturing), meeting customer satisfaction, and identifying, communicating, and dispositioning quality risks.
A Program Quality Engineer will typically fulfill the following responsibilities:
  • Create quality basis of estimates and develop, execute, and maintain the overall program quality plan including schedules, resources, and budgets within inputs including but not limited to design and supplier quality counterparts.
  • Manage quality requirements by engaging early in the program lifecycle to assess customer quality requirements against internal standard requirements, influence bids, and ensure alignment from contract flow down to design, factories, and suppliers.
  • Participate in design and development review processes covering planning, requirements, design, verification, and validation.
  • Ensure internal and external requirements are understood, validated, and properly traced and linked to design, implementation, and testing.
  • Ensure that design guidelines, process and factory capabilities, and best practices such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM) are utilized.
  • Support qualification testing including system test set-up conformity, test monitoring, and review of qualification test reports and failure investigation reports.
  • Perform requirement validation by reviewing and approving make item PPV/FAI's.
  • Act as the voice of the customer and serve as the customer liaison by overseeing product sell off to the customer, hosting customer source inspections and audits, and managing customer quality related issues and concerns.
  • Provide supplier/subcontract support by developing supplier quality clausing plans and reviewing and approving subcontract management plans and statements of work.
  • Manage and report quality metrics and ensure that programs meet all quality performance requirements utilizing tools like APQP/AS9145.
  • Provide nonconformance management by ensuring quality issues are identified and addressed promptly including overseeing Material Alert investigations and dispositioning and establishing & chairing Material Review Boards.
  • Support lifecycle management and phase gate reviews by ensuring phase gate requirements are met to drive product quality and early identification of issues while also serving as an active participant in program return to green efforts and transition to production activities and reviews.
  • Organize, support, and/or execute ISO 9001/AS9100 audits and CMMI assessments.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2-4+ years of experience or 6-8+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Capable of obtaining a Secret security clearance with ability to obtain special access clearances.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g. AS9100/ISO 9001, CMMI).
  • Experienced with root cause corrective action (RCCA).
  • Strong problem solving and risk management skills will be leveraged to ensure that solutions meet the needs of the business and warfighter.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle management (LCM) process and project management.
  • Customer skills including ability to develop solid, working customer relationships with credibility.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • ASQ Certification: CQE/CQA
  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certified
  • Proficient in requirement management tools.
  • Experience in system development life cycle including requirements capture and verification, design and development, and system level integration and testing including understanding the purpose of tests and method to validate.
  • Experience with AS9145 APQP (DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan development).
  • Familiarity with Quality Sciences (8D/RCCA and Lean Six Sigma methodologies), AS9100/ISO 9001 standards, and Capability Model Maturity Integration (CMMI).
  • Capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment.
  • Knowledge of military aerospace testing standards.
  • Experience with JIRA or equivalent workflow management.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense, automotive, or medical industry.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
