Overview:
Project Controller is the project manager’s primary partner on all things project finance. This includes developing and monitoring project schedules and budgets, tracking scope changes, and providing transparency on project performance. The Project Controller prepares cost and schedule reports, tracks cost variances, forecasts estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC), and works proactively with the project team to identify cost savings and risks before they become problems. The Project Controller interfaces with all aspects of the organization to ensure comprehensive project oversight and alignment.
This is a hybrid position based in Fremont, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, update, and monitor project work breakdown structures, schedules, and budgets
Track cost variances against budget and forecast estimate-to-complete (ETC) and estimate-at-completion (EAC) on a rolling basis, predicting future spend curves
Track, document, and communicate changes in project scope, cost, and schedule, including change order impact analysis
Partner with project managers and site leadership to drive budget accountability and disciplined cost management across the organization
Prepare and maintain project cost, schedule, and risk analysis reports
Develop and analyze performance metrics to track project progress and identify areas for improvement
Identify cost savings and risks, and support the implementation of financial risk mitigation strategies
Manage project invoices and ensure timely collection
Adhere to accounting guidelines and relevant regulations
Support project closeout, reconciling final costs against baseline
Additional duties assigned by management
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
5+ years of experience in finance and accounting analysis, preferably with project-based experience
Prior experience working closely with Project Managers and managing multiple projects at a time.
Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system preferred (training provided)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is a plus
Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
Advanced Excel skills
