Summary

As a key member of The Berg Group’s Management Team, the Project Executive assumes responsibility to oversee multiple project management teams, budgets, sales, and operations.  The Project Executive has the primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing, and running the financial activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and negotiations.  The Project Executive will be responsible for meeting the overall strategic and business goals of the organization.  The Project Executive will also participate in oversite of appropriate construction methods for the job and budget, explaining contracts and technical information to employees, developing pull plans for delays and other challenges, and hiring and training of their employees.


Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities/Duties
  • Hire, lead, and develop a world-class project management team in alignment with company values.
  • Oversee contract values, budget, projected cost, change orders, billing, and collections- hold teams accountable to ensure they are accurate and managed correctly.
  • Monitor job progress to ensure that goals for budget, schedule and customer satisfaction are attained.
  • Improve sales, return on revenue, and operating efficiency for their regional market(s) by increasing project opportunities.
  • Works with the VP of Operations to compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes and oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Support continuous improvement of company strategic planning and execution.
  • Identifies opportunities for expansion or diversification into new markets, services, or product areas.
Preconstruction/Estimating/Sales
  • Maintain and enhance Contractor relationships to build new business and be involved in new market development.  Manage and grow key client relationships in their designated market.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to understand complete scope while ensuring safety, quality and productions set up to be met. 
  • Review scope of work and identify any potential risks or scope gaps from estimate to award.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of projects and exceeds set standards for their portfolio.
Production/Execution
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure all pertinent information is provided; proactive communication with field leaders on bid productions and other preconstruction-related info and maintains consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Give advice and direction as needed to their Project Team.
  • Projection of manpower needs to leverage resources, utilizing the information for additional/ future projects.
  • Involved in the debriefing of a project. 
Financial Management
  • Involved in strategic planning to ensure project profitability- communication with the CFO & Executive Team to discuss financial implications, needs, and manage the cash flow to be positioned for success.
  • Financial management of the project portfolio.
  • Review WIP and billing.
  • Financial closeout of the project(s).
Business Development
  • Proactively promotes company solutions within target markets and client base.
  • Manages regional data within the Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Builds key client relationships, networks, and interacts with clients and other building professionals associated with company business.
  • Provides clients with regular progress updates and submits budget reports.
  • Spends significant time collaborating with contractors, construction managers, architects, engineers, inspectors, and other building specialists.

Strategic Vision

  • Participates in the development and execution of Berg’s strategic and business plan including achievement of key objectives.
  • Establish and develops relationships with employees, including the company management team, as well as external partners and stakeholders.
  • Support and continuous improvement of Berg’s high-performance culture.
  • Provide visionary leadership for new ideas and approaches and humbly welcomes ideas to innovate and better Berg from all levels of the organization.

Leadership

  • Develop trust and maintain a collaborative and supportive leadership presence with your Project Management team.
  • Participate in and support recruitment, hiring, onboarding efforts as appropriate to develop an exceptional regional team.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that enhances employee satisfaction, engagement, and results-orientation while encouraging innovation and creativity.
  • Provide time for regular and effective 1 on 1 meetings with all direct reports. 
  • Coach, mentor, and collaborate with direct reports regularly.
  • Establishes and achieves specific, measurable, and obtainable objectives that support Berg's overall growth and profitability objectives while creating client, employee, and company success.

  • Experience with Traction/EOS a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business or related field is preferred.
  • 5 – 8 years of experience is required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the interior and exterior construction scopes of work, including the drywall/steel stud framing industry.  Experience with pre-fabrication is a plus.
  • Analytical mind, attention to detail, and ability to make impromptu decisions based on objective criteria.
  • Proven experience in planning and budgeting.
  • Outstanding management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Sedentary Work
  • Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.
  • Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
  • Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Travel
  • Up to 20% primarily in their designated Market.
  • Ability to complete regular day travel for site visits and client meetings.
