Lead and deliver IBM Z software migration projects: define scope, plans, timelines; manage resources, risks, change control, vendors, and stakeholder communications across multiple technical workstreams to ensure successful delivery.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead software migration projects for clients on the IBM Z platform. This role is responsible for planning, execution oversight, stakeholder communication, risk management, and delivery governance across one or more migration workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide project management for IBM Z software migration projects and coordinate multiple technical workstreams as required.
- Define project scope, develop plans and timelines, manage resources, and track execution against milestones and deliverables.
- Report status, scope changes, risks, challenges, and requirements to leadership and stakeholders.
- Apply planning, tracking, change control, and risk management practices to support successful delivery.
- Support vendor coordination and alignment of workstreams to business objectives.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Strong technical project management experience, ideally in software migration or IBM Z environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional technical teams with responsibility for scope, cost, schedule, risk, and contractual deliverables.
- Experience leading or supporting migration programs that replace competitive / ISV tools with IBM solutions across the IBM Z estate.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies and IBM Z software
- Ability to assess migration impact on existing processes and support structured change management
Preferred / Additional Skills
- PMP or PRINCE2
- Experience with mainframe application development technologies such as COBOL or PL/I.
