Develop and maintain an educational blockchain implementation in Python, including blocks, hashing, transactions, balances, Proof of Work mining, chain validation, and consensus conflict resolution. Write clean, well-documented code, unit tests, tutorials, and optional demo APIs or web interfaces. The role emphasizes clarity, learning, and foundational blockchain concepts rather than production-scale complexity.
We are looking for a Python Developer to help build and maintain a simple, educational blockchain implementation designed to make core blockchain concepts easy to understand. This project focuses on clarity and learning, not production-scale complexity, making it ideal for someone who enjoys teaching through clean, well-documented code.
About the Project:
This is a minimal blockchain implementation created for educational purposes. It covers only the fundamental concepts:
- Block and Hash
- Transaction and Balance
- Mining with Proof of Work
- Chain validation and consensus conflicts
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the blockchain core in Python (blocks, hashing, chain structure)
- Implement and refine transaction handling and balance tracking
- Build and optimize the Proof of Work mining mechanism
- Implement chain validation logic and consensus conflict resolution
- Write clear, well-commented code and documentation suitable for learners
- Add unit tests to demonstrate and verify each core concept
- Optionally contribute example scripts or tutorials that walk through each concept
Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Solid understanding of hashing (e.g., SHA-256) and basic data structures
- Familiarity with blockchain fundamentals (blocks, transactions, mining, consensus)
- Ability to write clean, readable, and well-documented code
- Experience with unit testing in Python (e.g., pytest, unittest)
Nice to Have:
- Experience building educational or open-source projects
- Familiarity with Flask/FastAPI for a simple demo API or web interface
- Understanding of peer-to-peer networking basics (for consensus conflict demos)
What We Offer:
- A chance to work on a project with real educational impact
- Flexible, remote-friendly work environment
- Opportunity to deepen your own understanding of blockchain fundamentals
