Job Description

RESPEC is seeking two experienced QA Automation Engineers (Level 3) to support HHSC’s Social Services Applications. You will design, build, and execute automated and manual tests to ensure the quality and reliability of high-impact, web-based systems: TIERS, YourTexasBenefits.com, Your Texas Benefits mobile app, State Portal, Workflow Management, Eligibility Web Services, Enterprise Document Services/Content Management, Document Center, and Call Center Inquiry.

This is a hybrid role in Austin, TX. Local candidates only.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and automated scripts for J2EE/Portal applications in an SOA environment.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies; collaborate on requirements/user story analysis, test design, test data creation, and sprint testing.
  • Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into functional, regression, integration, and UAT coverage.
  • Detect, triage, document, and verify defects; provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Test across UI, APIs/services, batch processes, interfaces, and content/document services.
  • Support performance/load and integration testing efforts as needed.
  • Create and maintain test documentation, including requirements traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with RESPEC and HHSC development, product, and operations teams.
  • Contribute in design/code/test walkthroughs; advise on standards and customer needs.
  • Provide test support during releases and post-implementation validation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years with SDLC and Agile methodologies; strong QA engineering best practices.
  • 8+ years understanding enterprise IT systems, OS, programming/scripting, and QA tooling.
  • 8+ years turning requirements/user stories into comprehensive test plans, scenarios, and data.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex applications/defects and propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • 3+ years with several of:
    • Functional/UI automation: HP UFT, Selenium, Katalon
    • API testing: SoapUI, LoadUI
    • Performance testing: HP LoadRunner
    • Test/portfolio management: HP ALM, HP PPM; JIRA, JAMA
    • Data/validation: SQL, XML; experience with interface files and batch processes
  • 3+ years collaborating in Agile teams with dev, QA, and business/end users.
  • Experience with public sector or large-scale eligibility/social services systems.
  • Bachelor’s in CS, IS, Engineering, MIS, or related field strongly preferred.

  • Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT; occasional evenings/weekends/holidays may be required with pre-approval.
