At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

About Talent Data, Analytics & Insights

Talent Data, Analytics & Insights focuses on generating meaningful insights from people data that can help leaders inform decisions around our business, our workforce, and our Talent strategy, programs and practices. The team also focuses on maintaining the health and quality of our people data, also called data governance, as this is a critical dependency for generating insights. The team partners with leaders across Netflix and the Talent organization to understand the business context for key questions or challenges that the organization is seeking to address. While the team works most closely with our Global Business Practices (GBP) teams to influence and inform decisions at a program level, some projects bring the group into direct collaboration with business leaders and their HRBPs. The team leverages its diverse backgrounds and an interdisciplinary approach to define the solution best suited to address the question at hand, whether it’s designing data and insights products, developing measurement strategy for new programs or leveraging advanced analytical and statistical methods to deeply understand a topic.

The Role

We are seeking a Qualitative Researcher to join our Employee Listening team with Talent, Data, Analytics & Insights. This role will design and lead qualitative research — focus groups, text analysis, interviews, ethnography, and other methods — that complements our survey program and gives quantitative sentiment data the depth and "why" it can't provide on its own. You'll partner closely with other researchers on the Employee Listening team and with stakeholders across Talent to understand the employee experience, assess our organizational health, and evaluate the effectiveness of our Talent initiatives in a way that's rigorous, scalable, and actually drives decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute qualitative research studies (focus groups, 1:1 interviews, ethnographic observation, content/thematic analysis) to explore employee experience and talent strategy topics in depth

  • Partner with the broader Employee Listening team to identify where qualitative methods should complement or extend survey/quantitative data

  • Develop a scalable approach to qualitative research that works across a large, matrixed, globally distributed organization

  • Synthesize qualitative findings into clear, actionable insights for HR and business leaders

  • Partner with the Talent Data, Analytics & Insights team on mixed-methods deep dives that combine qualitative and quantitative sentiment data

  • Ensure qualitative research practices are culturally sensitive and effective across diverse, global employee populations

  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Talent (e.g., Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Compensation) to define what qualitative research questions matter most

  • Maintain rigor in study design, execution, and analysis while balancing speed, rigor, and business need

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in qualitative research, ethnography, or related methods, ideally within people analytics, employee listening, or UX/market research

  • Strong grounding in qualitative research design and methodology: interview protocol design, focus group moderation, thematic/content analysis, grounded theory, coding frameworks

  • Track record of translating qualitative findings into insights that influence decisions

  • Experience designing research that is culturally informed and effective across global, diverse populations

  • Comfortable partnering with quantitative researchers and analysts to build mixed-methods narratives

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills — able to translate nuanced qualitative findings for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Highly adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a complex, geo-distributed organization

  • Experience with qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, RQDA) a plus
