ERGO NEXT’s mission is to help entrepreneurs thrive. We’re doing that by building the only technology-led, full-stack provider of small business insurance in the industry, taking on the entire value chain and transforming the customer experience.

Simply put, wherever you find small businesses, you’ll find ERGO NEXT.

Since 2016, we’ve helped hundreds of thousands of small business customers across the United States get fast, customized and affordable coverage. We’re backed by industry leaders in insurance and tech, and we still have room to grow — that’s where you come in.

Job Overview:

The Quality Analyst ensures the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of General Liability (GL) premium audits across both internal auditors and external vendor partners.  This role specializes in validating complex exposures and classifications, with particular expertise in construction risks, contracting trades and large grocery/retail operations.  The QA II strengthens audit quality, enhances documentation standards, and drives operational improvements through classification governance, technical guidance, and cross-functional collaboration.  The position reflects ERGO NEXT's values of phenomenal service, being unstoppable, daring to simplify and playing as a team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct advanced GL audit reviews for both internal and vendor audits, ensuring consistent quality, accuracy, and compliance across all sources.
  • Validate exposure calculations including sales, payroll (as applicable), subcontractor costs, and construction-related labor, materials, and contract values.
  • Apply specialized expertise in construction risks (carpentry, remodeling, GC operations, subcontractor structures) and large grocery/retail risks with complex or multi-department operations.
  • Confirm accurate classification for multi-class businesses, including retail + installation, service + sales, mixed operations, and diverse construction activities.
  • Ensure supporting documentation (COIs, subcontractor lists, sales ledgers, job summaries, financials) fully reconciles with final exposures.
  • Review Descriptions of Operations (DOOs) for clarity, completeness, and alignment with exposure and classification determinations—especially for variable risks such as construction and large retail chains.
  • Identify misclassifications, documentation gaps, unsupported exposure adjustments, and systemic issues; provide clear, actionable corrective guidance.
  • Create and document risk reviews to highlight key operational changes identified during audit, raising potential policy updates or classification revisions to Underwriting as needed.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) in ISO/GL class codes, construction-related exposures, subcontractor handling, and large multi-department grocery/retail classifications.

What We Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Insurance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 4–5 years of premium auditing or quality assurance, with a focus on General Liability audits or classification-focused review.
  • Advanced understanding of ISO/GL classification rules, subcontractor requirements, and specific GL guidelines.
  • Preferred: Specific experience with construction, contractor operations, or large grocery/retail risks.
  • Preferred: PAAS TAP, APA, or similar designations.
  • Preferred: Additional certifications in GL classification or construction-related auditing are a plus

Unstoppable Qualities:

  • Proficiency with systems such as NEXUS, Insurity, and/or PATS.
  • Strong analytical and documentation review skills, including reconciliation of complex exposures and subcontractor structures.
  • Ability to interpret policy language, GL endorsements, and classification manuals accurately.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, especially when delivering technical feedback to internal and vendor auditors.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational discipline, and consistent application of documentation and audit standards.
  • Ability to influence improvements across teams and collaborate effectively with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Audit Operations.
