Our Downstream Chemicals Team utilizes technology consisting of specialty chemicals, equipment, digital tools, and over 100 years of industry knowledge to deliver value to our customers.  

The Baker Hughes Downstream Chemicals Team leverages our expertise to provide best-in-class technology and support to optimize process, finished fuels, and water treatment applications within the refineries where we operate. 

Partner with the best 

As a Refinery Account Representative, you will provide a vital service by implementing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and evaluating chemical treatment programs. You will be a crucial team member supporting a large key customer account, responsible for ensuring they have the services and products required to operate safely and efficiently. 

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Safely managing day-to-day operations of refinery process, finished fuels, and water treatment programs to ensure performance and value delivery for our customers 

  • Developing trusted relationships with customers and cross-functional teams to promote collaboration 

  • Applying account management fundamentals to understand customer needs, requirements, and potential sales opportunities while supporting the account P&L 

  • Identifying and coordinating numerous projects of varying complexity to bring value to our customers 

  • Routine monitoring and reporting of performance of existing treatment programs 

  • Collaborating with team members to drive technical sales and innovative solutions that bring value to our customers 

  • Collecting and interpreting data for troubleshooting, service reports, meetings, reviews, and presentations delivered to customers 

  • Providing field support, laboratory analysis, and technical guidance for our customers on issues, projects, turn-arounds, shut-downs, and daily operations 

  • Managing chemical inventories and deliveries at the customer location 

Fuel your passion 

To be successful in this role, will require: 

  • Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field preferred, but not required, or demonstrated relevant field experience. 

  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, or industrial settings supporting chemical treatment programs. 

  • Strong understanding of industrial chemical treatment technology and sales process 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills 

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting and/or familiarity with analytical methods and interpretation 

  • A comprehensive understanding of customer requirements and refinery market conditions 

  • Ability to present complex technical content to various levels of internal and external organizations, in a clear and concise manner 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) 

  • Ability to drive a company vehicle as required to perform job duties (motor vehicle record checks will be performed to determine eligibility to drive a company vehicle) 

  • Residing within a commutable distance to Sunray, TX (1 hour or less)
