Description

TBG Partners is an award-winning planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and branded environments firm with a 39+ year legacy of transforming communities across Texas and beyond. Our work spans the full spectrum of the built environment – from urban mixed-use developments and civic gathering spaces to corporate campuses, parks and trails, and master planned communities.

In Austin, our portfolio speaks for itself. Projects like The Republic, Symphony Square, Paseo, Waterline, Q2 Stadium, Alliance Children's Garden, the Violet Crown "Mile Zero" Trailhead, and the Oracle Campus reflect the kind of intentional, high-impact placemaking we're known for. Alongside these, TBG's legacy projects from Town Lake Park to Seaholm have helped shape Austin, define its parks and trail system, and strengthen the communities that surround it. We're not just watching Austin grow – we've had a hand in building it.

At TBG, business development is about intentional relationship-building, strategic thinking, and bringing the right people together to shape a more vibrant and resilient Austin.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a connector, a community builder, and a strategic relationship champion to join our team as Regional Business Development Manager in Austin.

In this role, you'll cultivate long-term, trust-based relationships with private developers, architects, engineers, contractors, public entities, and decision-makers influencing Austin's built environment. Working alongside TBG's Principals and Client Development team, you'll help position TBG with the right clients and project opportunities so that when great work is being planned, we're already at the table. This role is ideal for someone who knows Austin's commercial development ecosystem, thrives on building genuine relationships, and believes great design can transform communities.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Development & Client Engagement

  • Build and deepen strategic relationships with private developers, architects, engineers, contractors, public agencies, and P3 partners across the Austin metro region
  • Serve as TBG's primary ambassador in the Austin market, known, trusted, and well connected across the Urban Mixed-Use, Civic, and Community sectors
  • Monitor client feedback and market dynamics to continually refine TBG's engagement approach
  • Represent TBG at industry events, conferences, association meetings, and networking opportunities, ensuring TBG is visible where it matters most

Business Development at TBG

  • Develop and execute a Regional BD Plan aligned with TBG's firm-wide strategy, with targeted tactics for engaging value-aligned clients in Austin's private and public development landscape
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities that align with TBG's strengths, values, strategic goals, and capacity
  • Lead go/no-go and pursuit strategy sessions in collaboration with studio leaders and the Client Development team to guide proposals, presentations, RFQs, and RFPs

Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with architecture firms, engineering consultants, developers, contractors, and public/private agencies that create opportunities for collaborative pursuits
  • Work closely with TBG Principals to ensure the right internal expertise is connected to the right external relationships

Internal Collaboration & Culture

  • Champion a culture of business development across the firm by mentoring colleagues and sharing BD best practices
  • Collaborate with design and project management teams to support “seller-doer” engagement and success
  • Translate TBG's firmwide business development strategy into regional priorities by working closely with Austin studio leadership and the Client Development team to advance the firm's growth goals
  • Utilize TBG's CRM platform (Deltek Vantagepoint) to track relationships, leads, and opportunities, keeping the team informed and aligned

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor regional market conditions, development pipelines, and emerging trends across Austin's growth sectors
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on BD activity, market conditions, and client insights
  • Involvement with ULI, AIA Austin, Bisnow, or similar industry organizations is a plus

Who We're Looking For

  • 7–10 years of experience in business development, client relations, or a client-facing role, ideally within the commercial real estate, design, or A/E/C industry
  • An established network in Austin's commercial development ecosystem, whether through relationships with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, or municipal contacts
  • Familiarity with landscape architecture, urban design, planning, or the broader built environment is a strong plus; deep design expertise is not required
  • Experience with CRM tools; familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint is a bonus
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Planning, or a related field preferred

Who You Are

  • Relationship-First: You build trust naturally and invest in people for the long term, not just the next deal
  • Strategically Minded: You think ahead, ask the right questions, and know how to position TBG where opportunity is heading, not just where it already is
  • Collaborative by Nature: You work best as part of a team, connecting internal expertise to external opportunity and bringing people together around shared goals
  • Austin-Connected: You know the market, its players, and its rhythms, or you're eager to become deeply embedded in it
  • Mission-Aligned: You care about the quality and impact of the work
  • Impact-Oriented: You measure wins in lasting client relationships and meaningful community outcomes

Compensation & Work Structure

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Full-time, Austin-based position with a hybrid work structure
  • Regional travel for client meetings, industry events, and project pursuits
  • Professional development opportunities to support continued growth
  • Innovation initiatives, including TBG Idea Lab research grants
  • Comprehensive benefits supporting your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, including employer-paid health insurance, flexible work schedules, fitness incentives, an employee assistance program, retirement savings resources, and year-end profit sharing
  • Opportunities to mentor others and make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (TBG is 100% employee-owned.)
  • Six weeks of paid parental leave for all parents, including birth, adoptive, and foster parents
