Position Summary

The Renewables Technologist support role is responsible for the inspection and repair of electrical generating equipment and must have the ability to work with some degree of independence on many tasks. This position requires a high level of safety awareness. A Level 1 will have the capability of working with little to no supervision and will require little technical assistance. A Level 1 will also be capable of training and mentoring Associate Technologist. To reach this level the candidate must have demonstrated their ability and have received a recommendation from their manager.

We are looking for a Technologist I and II to inspect and repair electrical generating equipment.

This will be a traveling position 6 weeks on and 1 week off with no pay.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of wind fleet

  • Perform small and large corrective tasks on wind turbines

  • Lead teams of technicians as assigned on tasks within areas of developed expertise

  • Provide mentorship and training to Associate Technologists as directed

  • Interact directly with customers as directed by manager

  • Develop technical expertise for the identification and resolution of problems and complete repairs to electrical generating equipment on an increasing number of technologies and tasks

  • Strive to continuously improve job-related and technical knowledge, skills and performance

  • Diagnose and resolve faults on wind turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems

  • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with all policy and procedures

  • Support business goals through safe and efficient execution of assigned tasks

  • Develops positive working relationships with team members and customers

  • Assist with scheduling, dispatching and travel coordination in support of project requirements

  • Oversee subcontractor activities on site as directed

  • Climb up to 400 ft. several times daily

  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times

  • Work in a outdoor environment for an extended period of time          

  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles

Basic Qualifications

Renewables Technologist Level I

  • High School/GED

  • In addition to required degree, one (1) year minimum related work experience

  • In lieu of Associates degree and one (1) year minimum related work experience listed above, three (3) years minimum of related work experience

Renewables Technologist Level II

  • In addition to a degree, two (2) years minimum related work experience

Desired Qualifications

Renewables Technologist Level I

  • In lieu of Associates degree and one (1) year minimum related work experience listed above, three (3) years minimum of related work experience

Renewables Technologist Level II

  • In lieu of Associates degree or technical diploma and two (2) years minimum of related work experience listed above, four (4) years minimum of related work experience

  • Technical school certificate, Associates degree or higher

  • NCCCO rigging and signalperson (or equivalent)

  • DOT Health Card

  • Class A CDL

  • Additional years of wind experience (strongly preferred)

Working Conditions

  • Valid Driver’s License required

  • Any travel to projects

  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles

  • The ability to climb turbine towers (up to 400ft) daily is a requirement of this position

  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards

  • Ability to lift 75lbs individually

  • Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds

  • Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)

  • Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals or solvents

  • Work at heights greater than 300 feet daily

  • Ability to pass a background check and pass a drug test

  • Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program

  • Safe Working Weight Requirement: This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading

  • Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period
