This position will be managing the Physician Coding teams for Radiology, ED and Critical Care. You will be managing a coding staff as well as being a liaison to coding vendors. 

Manage all department coding and charge entry activities including coding of reports as required. Creating and executing physician education program on proper documentation to maximize overall reimbursement to include residents, fellows, and faculty. Act as Department representative to UCPC Compliance Group and ensure Department adheres to all policies set by this group. Follow-up on all billing related issues including addressing TES edits.

Responsibilities

Manage outside coding vendor including setting of coding rules, approving coding recommendations, and coding reports as needed (approximately 25,000/year). 

Create physician education program to ensure proper documentation to maximize overall reimbursement. 

Serve as a subject matter expert in the area of coding, billing, compliance, educating the physician population and answering questions they may have. 

Audit the billing records kept by the facility, ensuring that all billing and coding procedures have been followed. 

Actively work with UCPC's compliance program to ensure departmental adherence to policies. 

Review reports and follow-up on billed charges including TES edits. 

Prepare accounts receivable and IDX reports, as needed. 

Ensure entry of daily charge information, including CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS codes as provided by outside vendor. 

Remain current on HCFA guidelines, medical billing issues, charge coding requirements, etc. and communicates updated information to the department faculty and staff. 

Maintain AAPC coding certifications. 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required and Bachelors Degree preferred. | N/A | Minimum of five years experience.
