About The Firm

Our client is a well-established accounting firm with a long history of serving nonprofit organizations. They combine the personal attention of a small practice with the technical depth of a larger firm, providing high-quality review and advisory services to mission-driven clients. The team values collaboration, precision, and balance, offering a supportive environment for professionals who want meaningful work without the grind of traditional public accounting.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Preparer to join their Review Team, supporting nonprofit engagements. This is a hands-on role that goes well beyond checklist completion. The right candidate has been involved in the substantive side of review and audit work, not just organizing workpapers or marking up templates. You should be comfortable performing analytical procedures, identifying issues in financial data, and understanding what the numbers actually mean.

This role is ideal for someone from a smaller firm where staff are expected to roll up their sleeves and engage with the work directly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with review and compilation engagements for nonprofit organizations.

  • Perform analytical procedures and identify accounting and reporting issues in financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Prepare and organize workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation with accuracy and clear tie-outs.

  • Apply firm methodology and best practices through Knowledge Coach templates and checklists.

  • Engage substantively with client data, including revenue and expense analysis, balance sheet review, and identification of inconsistencies or areas requiring follow-up.

  • Collaborate with team members and managers to ensure timely, accurate completion of engagements.

  • Engage directly with clients on a regular basis

  • Maintain compliance with professional standards and firm policies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • 4-10 years of public accounting experience, ideally within a smaller firm where direct involvement in substantive work was expected.

  • Demonstrated experience performing analytical procedures and engaging with the actual data, not solely checklist-driven tasks.

  • Strong background in nonprofit accounting and financial statement preparation.

  • Ability to understand and work through bank reconciliations, payroll analysis, and similar foundational review procedures.

  • A track record that shows you've developed judgment, not just familiarity, with review and compilation work.

  • Experience with Knowledge Coach and Profx Engagement preferred.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable in a remote, collaborative setting.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.

  • Full single health coverage.

  • 401(k) match and employer-paid supplemental insurance plan (Aflac-style).

  • Flexible, remote schedule and a culture that values balance and professional respect.
