ROI Specialist (Healthcare)

Iron Mountain is seeking a highly motivated ROI Specialist (Healthcare) to join our Health Information Management team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the lawful and compliant disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) in response to complex legal and patient requests . This position requires strong attention to detail and an expert understanding of state and federal privacy regulations.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the review, validation, and fulfillment of legal requests, including subpoenas and court orders, ensuring all documentation is processed accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate with patients, legal entities, law enforcement, and internal legal counsel to clarify requests, mitigate risk, and maintain the integrity of the release process.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and specific state laws regarding PHI disclosure, including the appropriate handling of highly sensitive record types like behavioral health and substance abuse treatment.

What You’ll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Release of Information (ROI), Health Information Management, or a legal records processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Rule, state regulations, and legal procedures specific to the disclosure of patient health information.
  • Proven ability in legal document interpretation and applying appropriate, compliant disclosure procedures in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
