Western Smokehouse Partners is looking for a Safety Coordinator.

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for enforcing the company’s Health and Safety vision. This includes but is not limited to conducting employee training, auditing the workplace to ensure regulatory/ company compliance, investigating accidents, holding safety meetings and coordinating emergency response drills. This position will report directly to the Senior Safety Manager and work closely with site operations to establish positive partnerships, improve employee buy-in and the adoption of the company’s safety vision. The Safety Coordinator will support our mission to reduce or eliminate accidents by freeing our workplaces of recognized hazards, encourage safe work behaviors, promote a culture that values and strives for safety excellence.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining a multi-site program.
  • Implement company safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote and implement safety goals and strategies that are in line with corporate (KPI’s).
  • Locally lead behavior-based safety initiatives to improve culture and reduce accidents.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards requiring improvement.
  • Conduct hazard assessments in areas such as confined spaces, personal protective equipment, and Job hazard analysis to identify the exposures that exist in the workplace.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for all employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing refresher training.
  • Lead in the investigation of accidents and near-miss incidents, identifying root causes and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Hold Safety Committee meetings to support employee involvement in safety.

 

Experience:

  • Background in safety management, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Food processing experience
  • Industrial equipment certified/Training experience - Forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, and scissor lifts.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certified

 

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
