The Role

We’re looking for a high-performing Sales Development Representative who can prospect, qualify, and drive commercial contractors through Billd’s customer activation process. This role requires strong outbound sales ability, high-volume phone activity, disciplined follow-up, and the ability to manage prospects from initial engagement through account creation, underwriting support, and activation. Success in this role is measured by activated customers, not meetings scheduled alone. The SDR is expected to maintain ownership and follow-through after initial qualification to help move qualified contractors toward activation. Strong sense of ownership and urgency; able to manage follow-up across multiple accounts without letting qualified opportunities stall. Comfortable balancing outbound sales activity with administrative follow-through is required to move customers through approval and activation.

The ideal candidate has a history of helping customers enroll for a new service or product, exceeding quotas, and loves the challenges of positioning a new product into the market. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience (1) developing and managing leads from various marketing campaigns and self sourcing, (2) communicating outwardly the value of a financial, construction, or technology product and, (3) familiarity working with technology sales tools (Salesforce, Slack, Intercom, Apollo, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales cycle from account creation to underwriting approval
  • Developing sales strategies to identify and draw in potential contractors for enrollment.
  • Contact potential customers through cold-calling or responding to inquiries generated from additional avenues.
  • Manage qualified prospects through Billd’s sales and activation process, including account creation, qualification, documentation follow-up, underwriting coordination, and sales handoff.
  • Present the value of Billd's financing solution to prospective contractors over the phone
  • Help contractors complete their online enrollment via Billd’s proprietary web platform.
  • Generate and qualify outbound leads by assessing the contractor’s material purchasing needs and creditworthiness
  • Work with Underwriting to understand the necessary information required to approve contractors for financing, then follow up with contractors to obtain the information
  • Complete assigned Apollo tasks promptly to maximize sales conversions
  • Work in a team environment which the contractor will transition to upon approval
  • Develop personalized outbound campaigns (call, email, text, etc.) to target prospective customers via Apollo
  • Unearth new sales opportunities through networking (LinkedIn and professional networking)
  • Leverage social media to communicate and connect with prospects and customers

Skills and Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience helping customers sign up for a new product or service
  • Proficient in collecting customer documentation necessary for approvals
  • Experience in lead management
  • Preferred to have familiarity with technology tools such as Salesforce, Slack, Apollo, and Intercom
  • Must have a competitive drive and persevere to consistently achieve excellence and overcome adversity
  • Must be a self starter and continuously invest in self development and learning
  • Must work with honesty, integrity and respect
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication
